After Dortmund beat Bochum, looks like Schalke u19 is in 1st place. Team is good. Depth is good. Norbert is good and the team is playing to its potential. No game against Bayern Lever as the snow has taken over the fields. Not sure when the make up is...they meet Hoffenheim in the quarters(Dec 15). They lost to them in preseason 4-0 so hopefully they have gotten over it. Nick still rehabbing.
Of the 3 Americans that was on trial, 1 got signed per rumor. All played well but one caught Norberts eye. They will make public by February when season starts again.
Yes but they can't be registered and play in actual league games until they turn 18 (or the window after turning 18? I'm still unclear).
It's hard to tell because the clubs are a bit secretive about this, but I don't think players actually sign contracts until they turn 18. The agreements are all handshake, which is why they aren't announced until the player turns 18.
True...Most don't want to draw attention to someone who is basically a free agent. Here's how Werder worded it: SV Werder Bremen have secured the services of the attacking talent, Joshua Sargent. The 17-year-old will move from St. Louis Scott Gallagher Missouri to Bremen in 2018 and he will sign a professional contract at the Weserstadion on his 18th Birthday. (Emphasis added).
Seems like all is good and he will be returning after the New Year. Schalke 19s ended up not playing the last 2 games due to snow, unplayable fields. He will not be with them when they play Hoffenheim this weekend in the cup quarterfinals. Unless something goes wrong with his rehab, he should be back for the start of the season.
Appears he isn't back in time. The full #S04 squad is travelling to Benidorm. @BTekpetey32 and #Dragon join from the U23 squad, as do #Kübler, #Czyborra and #Krüger from the U19 team. pic.twitter.com/B7damlD8Gg— FC Schalke 04 (@s04_en) January 1, 2018
That sucks. I guess he’ll stay with the U-19s the rest of the year and see where the chips fall in the Summer
Yeah...its seems like Nick was not back in time because he isn’t even back for pre season that started on the 2nd. Rumor had Nick, Flo, and Lennart making the winter camp. However, with the injury, Yannis got the go ahead. I think as long as he comes back healthy, he should be good for the jump into July camp. There seems to be interest by the coach to replace Kono and he likes Nick a lot. Time will tell. One more thing, I read by kba4life1 that he would probably have to stay with 19s for the rest of the season. As far as I can see, Norbert does not give up players to the first team when he is going for the league title and ultimately German Cup. He is somewhat stingy with his players. He will entice with 1st team training during intl breaks, but that is it. Looking forward to the season start in February.
One more thing...just a follow up. Booth to Bayern Munich and Zyan to Schalke is what I am hearing around these parts. Glosser has not found his club yet.
