Nah. McKennie was the front runner.

 

ended up being an unused bench player in a 2-0 win for Schalke II.

 

2 weeks have passed after his 1st bench appearance in II and he's still out.

and 2 in 1 update as Wright is also still injured.
In addition to Haji Wright and Richard Weber, captain Christian Eggert will be injured due to injury. In addition, Nick Taitague is expected to start training again next week and will therefore also not be in the squad.

He scored 2 goals for the U-23’s today in a 11-2 rout in some exhibition.

came off the bench and played 18 minutes in a 3-0 loss.

 

Great look at Nick this week. Shifty, draws fouls, goes to ground, dangerous, etc...but looks to be playing well.

Nick is so talented but he keeps getting injured.

 

Schalke started a LB at striker a couple of weeks ago, have consistently put Weston McKennie at attacking midfield, have given Haji Wright multiple opportunities now and overall have just looked god awful in the attack. I don't see any reason why Nick can't leave his mark in the next 6 months, if he stays healthy.

He looks very comfortable in this clip. He may be in need of play at a higher level soon.

 

He has been in need of a higher level imo but he can’t stay healthy. He has always been very promising but...fragile.
