Really, he could play either wing but he can also play centrally. Given our historical dearth of 10s, I’d rather he developed there. Especially since we have some other talented kids who could end up on the wing (Weah, Konrad, Reyna, Busio, etc)
Isn't there some kid playing at Dortmund who's supposed to be the #10 for the forseeable future? Taitague is a good 10, but there aren't alot of fast dribbling wingers in the pool with his type of ball control.
Yea, plenty of modern dimunitive attackers like Pulisic (or Taitague hopefully) can play anywhere along the front line. On either wing or centrally or up top. I don't put much stock into pigeon holing someone like Taitague/Pulisic into a position.
Neither of them are even close to a classic 10. Even the guys who are, aren't. The game has changed to the point that for me the 10 as I know it doesn't exist.
There’s also a guy in Atlanta doing alright. But beyond that, what is there? Kellyn Rowe, who isn’t even starting in New England? Injuries happen, and things like Copa America and the Gold Cup happen at the same time. I agree, and I’m a big fan of playing the matchup to give your team the best chance to win. But when I say “10,” what I really mean is a midfielder who can get the ball to a dangerous area to help create goal scoring opportunities and make the final pass. Watch the US game next week and you’ll see what a team that doesn’t have one looks like
No, but if one can make the argument that Tatigue and Pulisic are 10's in the modern game, it's because the modern 10 is pretty meaningless.
Is he? I always thought he had ridiculously quick feet, but I never got the impression that he was extremely "fast", like Pulisic, Weah, or Yedlin.
Taitague scored twice today for the U19s. A brace for @NTaitague as Schalke's U19s win 3-1 in a friendly 👏 #SchalkeUS🇺🇸 https://t.co/ZEhaS7E1of— Schalke 04 USA🇺🇸 (@s04_us) March 28, 2018
Nick scored two as a winger and had the other assist as a 10 to Flo. He really displayed speed especially against FC Tokyo defenders...very fast on the wing. But, the more Nick plays in the middle, I think he looks better centrally. Distributions and he plays with his head up. Pulls in players to facilitate ball movement. The assist to Flo was very pretty, inner play with Jason Ceka with through ball to Nick bursting through the middle, one touch passing defender and then finding Flo for a tap in. Saw Zyen play....very fast. First touch and technical skill wil have to ramp up but is very raw with athleticism. He isn’t a Haji but time will tell. He came in 2nd half. Team is off until Tuesday.
Happy to hear that his production is up this year and that he looks fast. Top prospect in an important position for us. And thanks for your contributions! You're the undisputed MVP of the Schalke threads.

a few things, Schalke U19 won 2-0, Nick didn't score. also -Schalke are the U19 West Champions, so going to the Championship SF. -Taitague seems to have gotten himself injured as well got subbed off at the 18th minute.
3 games tops are left in the season for Schalke U19. Seems like Nick misses the 1st game, the SF 1st leg. https://schalke04.de/knappenschmied...in-hoffenheim-gute-ausgangsposition-schaffen/
what are the current thoughts on him for next season? training with first team in pre season? loan to 2.bundesliga team for 18/19?
I only post news, I don't have control over anything. If Nick is constantly injured that's out of anyone's control. it's not only bad news, from the previous page.
