Ties in with a lot of what I'd heard when he was at Man United. It's a reason I was quite disappointed with him when things weren't going so well and it looked like he was frustrated and wanted out. Nice to read all that. And on the Wahl book, while it revealed a lot of genuinely crap stuff that went down after his arrival, I've always said that it read like Grant was aggressively pursuing that narrative and blew up a few innocuous things for effect.
His conclusion and narrative also fell apart after. He clearly expected Beckham to be gone soon after the AC Milan loan fiasco and wrote as if the "experiment" had already failed. Fortunately for us, it all worked out in the end.
I am sorry, but Beck tanked after June of 2008. He clearly didn't want to come back for 2009. IMO, that things worked out later had more to do with his injury than David's so-called commitment to the Galaxy and/or MLS.
David Beckham's Miami soccer stadium land sale gets approval https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/jun/06/david-beckham-miami-soccer-stadium-approved-mls
The team won't really be called Miami Beckham United will it? He'd almost be better off going with the Miami Golden Balls. Or FC Spice World.
It should be stipulated that the coach's attire must include a sports coat with rolled-up sleeves. Streaked hair is actively encouraged. Acknowledgement that a movie version starring Colin Farrell exists, is not.
I can't tell you how fantastic that would be. Don't forget the loafers without socks and smoking a lung dart on the sidelines... I'm sure there's a guy coaching somewhere in South America rocking this look right now.
Couldn't disagree more. The coach needs to rock this look. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/462111611742234658/
Huh, reading Scott French’s “5 Best Moments of Beckham’s Galaxy Years” article and apparently Beckham had torn his hamstring 5 days prior to the 2011 MLS Cup Final. That’s the first time I’ve heard that little tidbit – or at least first time I’ve recalled it.
I miss that guy. He definitely had us doubting him at times but in the end he came through and you could tell he completely bought into the Galaxy (even though it took some time).

But how to make a proper acronym out of "VICE"? Victoria Inspires Club d'Excellence? Victoria's Institute for Calisthenic Enterprise? Ventures In City Enrichment? Victory Is Calcio's Endgame? Vainglory Is Cash Expenditure? It's hard, ain' it......
Beckham's Miami team now has a name http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/soc...s-a-name-inter-miami-cf/ar-BBMTW1P?ocid=ientp
Can I just state for the record that I intensely dislike all this United, FC, Inter, Real Euro-wannabe stuff.
Inter Miami CF is the best they could do? Was AFC Inter Real Sportivo Miami United Independiente FC already taken?
Shaka is has similar thoughts saying it’s a bit weird, but Real Salt Lake takes the cake for lameness. http://www.espn.com/soccer/league/_/name/USA.1/major-league-soccer
So the expectations is I'm going to call this team "Inter" or "Inter Miami" which bothers me because "Inter" means nothing except as a specific nickname for the Italian club. It'll be fun if they have pink kits though.
Agree "Real Salt Lake" is pretentious and phony (why would SL use Spanish in their name, right?) but at least it rolls off the tongue. Try saying "Inter Miami CF" out loud - it's like your top and bottom teeth are in a war.
