With all do respect to Gerrard and all he did at LFC, His name doesn't belong next to a 2 time MLS cup champion, 2 time supporter's shield winner. Wait a minute before someone blows a gasket! We are talking about MLS and MLS achievements, can Stevie win 1 league cup winner's medal and ring before he's mentioned along side Beckham? Again we aren't talking European honours, We are talking MLS honours. Forget what he did in 17 years at Liverpool it's over let it go. His football career in Europe is legendary no doubt the man won a lot and accomplished many things. This is MLS though come get some Gerrard can you win one for us let's see this pedigree? Let's see this world class football IQ? To hav77 I'm not directing this at you I just quoted your post so people would understand what I'm talking about and not go flying off the handle with the old tired quality of league and teammates routine.
Looks like Beckham has finally got a deal done. Even though it's like plan D I'm happy for him. I hope MLS in Miami works out. It would be good for the league and game in this country. Beckham announces Overtown site for soccer stadium
Sir David Beckham? I'm down... David Beckham BBC documentary has viewers requesting KNIGHTHOOD for Becks https://t.co/ZlGymqmeJY pic.twitter.com/99g17CC5gC— Mirror Football (@MirrorFootball) December 29, 2015 "
Have been told by an impeccable source that the Qataris have taken ownership of David Beckham's MLS team. #Beckham will remain face of club— Bob Williams (@WilliamsBob75) February 12, 2016 I know people have their issues with Beckham, and I know he is flawless at making people believe he genuinely cares about [fill in the blank] so call me a sucker, but I genuinely believe David does care about the Galaxy and it was always a bit off-putting he had another MLS team. I’m sure he’ll continue to shill for Miami, but I bet he’s on the training pitch at StubHub more than he is for Miami.
this is pretty disgusting since a big part of the bid was bc Beckham was part of it. so I'm assuming the Qataris will use slave labor from back home to build the stadium in miami? I hope Becks just washes his hands from the team and goes all in on the Galaxy. Lets make him a minor owner!
Is this serious because there are copious amounts of laws that prohibit this in America and you are also generalizing every single rich Qatari business by saying that "the Qataris will use slave labor". Yes there are some terrible people in Qatari who deceive migrants from other nations into work in Qatari for practically nothing, but the whole nation does not embody those terrible people.
While you're right, I thought someone said this is the same group behind the World Cup stuff, which hasn't had a problem using slave labor.
Okay if that's true, then fair enough, but if not, I don't think it's fair to automatically assume the new investors are terrible people.
They are the exact same people Also every single Qatari that invests into soccer serves on their board of soccer and they are the criminals in charge of that world cup bid.

Quick poll---- Beckham has been gone 3 1/2 seasons now. Do we want to keep this thread open until he is actually an owner of a rival team (at which point it definitely needs to close down) or do we want to end it now? Any thoughts?
I saw that it has been 900(!!!) days since he announced the Miami team. Close the thread - we can't wait until ANYTHING actually happens in Miami.
I would say with Beckham spending at least part of the year in LA and dropping by Galaxy practice/games during those trips the content will bubble up elsewhere. Might as well keep it all in one place.
That latest article posted was about Beckham traveling to Los Angles and perhaps the SHC. It's still partially Galaxy related. Keep it open for those who still enjoy stories about the former Galaxy great, David Beckham. Too me, even though he's announced plans for a Miami expansion, he still presents himself as a LA Galaxy ambassador.

I think Becks had no idea what a swamp he was stepping in to. That perfect smile only goes so far when you are talking politics and money.
Interesting read from the players who were here in 2007 https://uk.sports.yahoo.com/news/ga...-very-surprising-david-beckham-094945436.html Have to say it provides an alternative view to some of what Wahl/Donovan said. Not exactly contradictory just a wider view.
