Iachini officially back. He is absolutely the right guy for the job and never should have been fired in the first place. That said, his first four matches are @ roma Bologna @ Inter I'm guessing 3 points at best and rumors of Ballardini's phone ringing.
I had read Iachini yelled at Zamparini when the president tried to hire him back after firing Ballardini. Whichever way you look at it, things certainly aren't dull in Palermo....
dopo tutto che hai fatto tu vieni a me ? E tu chidemi di tornare ? Ma vaffanculo tu e chi la fatt' im pretty sure thats how the phone call happened.
Yeah but the only thing is at that point, he could have terminated his contract and Iachini would no longer be paid. Gaucci did the same thing with Giovanni Galeone at Perugia who had to take a train all the way back from Naples I believe it was. When he arrived in Perugia dead tired, he told him that he must resume his coaching duties as he is under contract with the club but then Galeone was mad and resigned on the spot and then went to Napoli just after that in November 1997....
He couldn't have been brought back at a worse time schedule-wise, but the fact is Palermo probably only need 9 points tops to stay up. Iachini can get those points if Zamparini doesn't lose his mind (again). Iachini is the right choice now, just like he was the right choice when Ballardini was fired, and just like he was the right choice when Zamparini fired him after a win put Palermo in 12th place.
Guess who is supposedly on the verge of being fired and who is on the verge of being rehired. The fact that I typo'ed that post and forgot to include the fourth match (v Napoli) turned out to be prescient. It looks like it won't take that long.
Now the story is that Iachini wants to quit over disagreements with Zamp (shocking), and Zamp is trying to convince him to stay. Sadly, I think that Palermo are in a good enough spot to not be relegated regardless, which is just going to make Zamp think his antics this year have been vindicated.
Palermo situation, Iachini set to resign: Ballardini awaits -http://gianlucadimarzio.com/news-cat/palermo-situation-iachini-set-to-resign-ballardini-awaits/…
#Palermo coaches 2015/16: 1. Iachini 2. Ballardini 3. Viviani 4. Schelotto 5. Tedesco6. Bosi 7. Iachini again 8. Ballardini again?— Alasdair Mackenzie (@aksmackenzie) March 8, 2016
That is a good idea. I know Zampa complained last time he fired Iachini that he lost 40 million getting relegated to Serie B. I'm guessing all he pays out in coaching contracts doesn't amount to all that much so I don't think he really cares what people think.
Zamp ...... This is one of those years. Guillermo Schelotto went to Boca, Iachini’s going too. All we need is my resignation and we’ve got a full house. LOL
And because he was offered his dream job. If the Boca job didn't open up, it would have been easy enough for him and Palermo to deal with the other issues. Don't forget that Sorrentino might as well have coached Ballardini's last match

If any of Rossi, Mangia, or Iachini were to have been truly given the reins to do what they want, rather than constantly being criticized and having DS's appointed over them who disagree with their tactics and targets, this team would be in such a better position. Most of the other coaches in the last 6-7 years a a pile of garbage that were likely the only people who wanted the job. Zamp also has a terrible record of firing a coach in November/December, then firing the next guy a few months later, which makes the January transfer window a total waste every year.
Siniša Mihajlovic was a hero last week, this week I heard Italo Cucci saying on Rai that he will be gone. Maradona once stated he never learned nothing from any of his coaches other than maybe Menotti.
Yeah but he also denounced César Luis Menotti after he left Diego off the 1978 WC winning Argentina team at home. He said he would never forgive him for leaving him off a WC team played in his homeland.
