I suppose it was removed because some people would tend to "misuse" it, e.g. neg repping sarcasm. Wink, wink.
Pochettino... a new hat in the ring for Arsenal? A few years back, he was on my mind for Arsenal. But now I'm not sure. Plus he's probably not really dying to swap one North London club with money & personnel issues, for another. I guess his next move is back to the Continent, perhaps to one of the big boy clubs over there. But he'll just have to come up with a really good explanation for why things went to shit in the last 6 mos or so.
OK, but that's a tad too simplistic. Many of the teams above Spurs in the table have wages budgets and net spends much lower than Spurs.
I'm wondering if Poch's buyout from *Sp*rs has restrictions on whether he can go to any other EPL Club. I haven't found anything to support that, but I'm guessing Levy would want that put into the agreement. I'd much prefer #POCHIN as well, but I'm not getting my hopes up anytime soon.
I know its not much, but I kinda believe him when he said he wouldn't go to a rival for a club he has managed. So I don't think Poch will ever be at Arsenal.
manager pool is really slim right now...Allegri, Ten Haag...i really think Freddie is too green at this point
At this point it feels like Arsenal will have to take a chance on an up-and-comer. If we're to believe that Edu and others are now finally trying to build an ethos behind the scenes about what Arsenal means and how they want the team to play then it should be less about brand name appeal and more about someone that fits the system. If riding out Emery for a spell is a matter of biding time while they search for that candidate then I'll accept that. Measure twice, cut once. If they're not doing as much behind the scenes, well then God help us.
I assume they have to be working on something. The only doubt I have is about the timing. Allegri supposedly has said he wants to retire by age 55, which for him would be 2022. If true, then that means his next gig is likely his last and also only for just a couple of years. And you have to ask yourself "why would Arsenal be his top pick for that swansong assignment?" Pochettino seems extremely unlikely to jump to Arsenal, for many reasons already discussed. Ten Hag plus other intriguing names recently mentioned are still under contract. My money's still on Freddie as caretaker, with Bouldy or Per as his assistant. Then we hire someone from a wider pool at season's end.
There are rumors that Everton is likely to sack Marco Silva and if so Arteta will be their #1 option.
I like Arteta. He has a connection with the club and he has ambition of becoming a manager. He’s been shadowing one of the best so I think he’s a risk worth taking. Plus, we brought him in the last time this club was in a crisis( ala 8-2 defeat against Manure) we might need to bring him in again to save the club.... this time as manager
For us? Interesting. Haven't heard Nuno's name bandied about too much. But he appears to be a strong manager, like maybe even iron-fist strong, like don't cross the dude?! But as a coach I'm not completely clear. Not that I've really focused on Wolves much. What's his style? Pressing & countering? Do we have enough Portuguese-speakers on our squad for him?
There is a great video of him breaking down a 433 I like Nuno, he is a step up from emery, but who isn’t?
From the videos I've seen he sounds like more of a press & counter. Ran a 4-3-3 at Valencia & Porto but has run a 3-4-3 / 3-5-2 at Wolves. The number of Portuguese players in his squad at Wolves is supposedly due to his relationship with Jorge Mendes. Most if not all of them are his clients. My biggest concern is A) how does he manage the bigger stars and B) can he adjust his formations/tactics to get our best players on the field.
I’m good on Iberian football educated managers. They are mostly super conservative in their approach.
