It's a less impressive assist than the one Messi made to Iniesta vs. Chelsea 2009 and you classified that one as ordinary so...

You are literally taking the piss right now danko
Ronaldo initiated a attacking move on the wing, ran inside the box played a 1 two with James and then passed it to Hernandez to tapin into an open net
Ronaldo had several touches on the ball preceding his assist and drew at least 3 defenders away from Hernandez before he scored

Messi’s involvement was literally passing the ball 2 yards sideways to iniesta, which even a baby that just learnt how to walk could do(or even a chimp could kick the ball to a guy practically standing next to him/it)

Danko you are to Messi fandom what Messi is to football(A Goat tier fanboy)
I applaud you for your dedication and at least on the bright side of things you don’t hide behind a veneer of impartiality and objectivity (unlike some of this forum)

It was kinda tongue in cheek BUT history is littered with athletes doing marvellously well and even improving / getting PBs when their peers are struggling or retiring ..
history shows they were 'cheating' in one way or another .

Surprise surprise.. Arsenal is playing great offensive football, finally, and what would you know, Iwobi is brilliant just as I predicted he would be in a proper system

Arsenal is playing great. Gunners loss against Liverpool doesn’t make them shite compared to 17/18 Arsenal.

Did the Fulham game last night prompt you to post this? :D

No, Iwobi has not been brilliant. You can ask any Arsenal fan, and they will tell you the same thing. He was quite good earlier in the season. Some even use him as the poster child for players who improve under Emery, after stagnating under Wenger.

However, he fell back down, and was quite average, even during our 22 games unbeaten run. Him and Mkh received a lot of flak.

Hes the same old Iwobi. He can look good one game, then he has two games of mediocrity. He has never achieved any real level of consistency. Right now, he has not even been as good as Hleb.

Same question. Did Fulham prompt you to make this post? If so, you must have noticed that we gave up two big chances to them before we scored our first goal.

Did you know that we concede the 5th most amount of chances in the league?

Did you know that Emery's Arsenal is on course to a worse defensive record than Wenger's worst season?

The only thing saving us is our goals. However, the underlying number isn't much better, but Auba/Laca have fortunately been putting that chances away. If Emery ever figure out a way to consistently utilize them 2 plus Ozil, then we'd have a proper attack.

Talk to any Arsenal fan. They will tell you, our results have been much better than our performances. The improvements that are clear in the team are work-rate and confidence. Those are two big improvements though, so it's been enough to help us grind our way through smaller teams.

My older brother who is a huge Arsenal fan telling me i was right all along while watching Fullham game prompt me to post this (i watch Arsenal fairly often as well)

Okay, so i guess you need some more time to face that. He turned from being abysmal in your book to "inconsistent"... and it's not like i've been originally claiming Iwobi is a wonderkid or something, but thats okay, youve might have forgotten my point

You are the first Arsenal fan who i talk to thats not hyped up about Emery. Although i actually agree with you more than others, they are overachieving for the quality they showed. However, your point about defense doesnt affect Arsenal's offensive system so it makes no sense to hold that as an argument against my point. Arsenal, offensively is better this season and that implies that Iwobi has more freedom, hence he plays better more often, hence would play even better in better system.

Yes, same with Sarri and Chelsea from what I have seen. Now they also start to spend big for not so outstanding players....

Arsenal is a team I love in the Premier League and I can assure you they’ll be title contenders next season. Have patience because Emery is doing a good job so far even though the defense is shaky. Also, remember that he’s doing a good job with that shitty budget.

Iwobi's potential is not denied by most Arsenal fans, me included. We were all excited when he first broke into the scene, and like most youngsters, he was given a lot of leeway when his form dropped. Even at his worst, we all recognized that the Wenger effect had a massive influence on his poor form.

Even when we call him 'abysmal' or 'shyte' or whatever, there is recognition there that it's not all his fault.

That's why I mentioned that when he had good form earlier in the season, he was the poster-child for the Emery effect. Iwobi himself said it that Emery has given him a lot of confidence. This confidence is clearly evident, not just in him but in a number of players. It's one of the best things Emery has done.

What is also true, however, is that he remains inconsistent. That is an undeniable fact.

Your point originally was that Iwobi would be good for Barcelona. My point is, even among players of his profile, he simply lack the ability-level to operate at the very top of the game. His lack of consistency alone must make him a no-go for a club like Barcelona, which demands ultra-consistency and big-game expertise.

I didn't mention Arsenal's defensive performance in reply to you, it was to JoCruyff98 who said we're playing great. We're not.

It's actually quite simple. You can just go to the Arsenal board on BigSoccer, and read up on some of the things we talk about. I can tell you though, there is general recognition that our results have been much better than our performances.

I hope you're right, but I don't think you are. We're simply very ill-equipped to compete next season. We have a lot of areas to improve and not a lot of resources. We might be able to make maybe 1 big signing next summer? The rest we'll have to find from the bargain bin.

We also don't have a Countinho to sell for 100m. Most of our best players are in their late 20s already.

Worst of all, the management has criminally mismanaged our assets. In Gnabry, Woj, Sanchez, Wilshere, Ramsey, and Welbeck, we had about 150-200m worth of assets, and what did we actually get for them? Like 20m and a Mkh. That's why we can't compete.

With the underlying numbers, Emery's Arsenal is actually no better than Wenger's worst Arsenal. We're scoring more goals due to superior finishing, but we're actually not creating more chances or big chances. We are however, conceding more chances than Wenger's worst Arsenal.

Having said that, it's very early days in Emery's reign. The work-rate and confidence difference between the two teams is pretty drastic. He deserves more time, for sure, and there's enough good signs to be hopeful.

So, i would argue, was Pedro in early 2010s, but it didnt matter, did it? I still think Iwobi's style perfectly meets Barcelona's current needs and along side world class players, his lack of technical consistency would be negligible. I believe if you want a world class team, you need players that fit with each other, with few world class individuals, rather than merely having 11 world class players.. In my eyes, Iwobi blends exceptionally well with this Barca.. it's not like we are going to find that out tho..

Probably the group of death, if there is such a thing when even 3rd place teams can advance. Though depends a bit what kind of squad Japan brings. Will it be their best team, or will they send a under-23 team like US and Mexico typically have done in the past?

Messi would need to go superman mode to take this Barcelona to the UCL title. That or the rest of the team steps up another gear and Messi just cruises it.
