FIFA U-17 WWC is bi-annual, every even year. The 2012 WWC-17 in Azerbaijan ran Sep 22 - Oct 13, won by France. CONCACAF WCQs were held May 03-12, so about 4 months + 1 week prior. The 2014 WWC-17 is in Costa Rica, shifted to the spring: Mar 15 - Apr 05. Costa Rica qualifies automatically into 1 of 3 CONCACAF slots. Subtracting the same 4 months + 1 week, we get CONCACAF WCQs this fall, Oct 30 - Nov 09, in Jamaica. Assuming 2 groups of 4 as in the last cycle: Xa-Xb, Xc-Xd - 10/30 Wed (where X in { A, B }) Xa-Xc, Xb-Xd - 11/01 Fri Xa-Xd, Xb-Xc - 11/03 Sun A1-B2, A2-B1 - 11/06 Wed (semifinal winners qualify) Championship - 11/09 Sat USA has announced its lineup, with 1 roster spot held open for a 2nd GK to unhobble
WCQs and (# slots) from the other confeds, sorted by dates, with thread links: (3) CONMEBOL - Sep 12 - 29, nearly done. Preliminary 2 groups of 5, top 2 advanced. Final group of 4, loser stays home. After 2 of 3 rounds, Venezuela and Paraguay clinch, and it's Chile-Colombia on Sep 29 for the last spot. (3) AFC - Sep 26 - Oct 06, underway now! (morning our time?) (1) OFC - Oct 12-26. (3) CAF - Nov {1-3} and {22-24} home-and-away. (3) UEFA - Nov 26 - Dec 08. Thread contains some U-19 chatter ...

The 8 participants are: Jamaica (host), Canada, Mexico, USA El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Trinidad & Tobago
Yeah I was rooting for Australia too. They would have been more interesting in this tournament than China.
(3) AFC - Sep 26 - Oct 06. Semis today (10/03): China 1-3 DPRK, Thailand 0-6 Japan Sun 10/06: 3rd place China-Thailand for the last slot, DPRK-Japan for the AFC title.
(3) AFC - Sep 26 - Oct 06. Japan, DPR (North) Korea, China. Sun 10/06: China 2+4 - 2+2 Thailand, after China's 90+4' equalizer(!), for 3rd and the last ticket. DPRK 1+5 - 1+6 Japan, who repeats as champion on a PK miss. Since this is actually Asia's U-16 championship, they do not play ET, but PK AER.
The US ended up in Group B: 2013 CONCACAF U-17 Women’s Championship Group B Schedule Date Match Kickoff (ET) Venue Oct. 31 USA vs. T&T 7 p.m. Catherine Hall Stadium; Montego Bay, Jamaica Nov. 2 USA vs. Guatemala 7 p.m. Catherine Hall Stadium; Montego Bay, Jamaica Nov. 4 USA vs. Canada 6 p.m. Catherine Hall Stadium; Montego Bay, Jamaica Jamaica, Mexico, Haiti and El Salvador in Group A are in Group A.
Considering the next round is A1-B2/B1-A2 with the winners going to the WC, I would rather take the chance of getting a Mexico instead of Canada in the deciding game.
Agreed. The assignments appear to be the best way to assure the US and Canada don't meet in the next round.
I forgot that with 2 groups, they can stagger the group matches on alternating days. So Group A plays { 30; 01; 03 } and Group B plays { 31; 02; 04 }. Then they have to sync up for the semi cross-overs on 11/07. So A1/A2 have an extra day of rest (4 vs 3), which is probably not a big deal. If it were 3 days vs 2 days, it'd be a really big deal. So they insert an extra day? Still, it means the A1-seed is fractionally more desirable than B1. Hence, it goes to host Jamaica, and USA is B1. Both Jamaica and USA get all the evening kickoffs in prime-time
Fox Soccer Plus is televising seven of the matches in this tournament. All three USA group matches, both Semifinal matches, the 3rd place match, and the Final. The 3rd place match doesn't really mean anything, since the 3rd and 4th place teams won't qualify.
