I think the Canucks would have hoped for a border hugging location (Buffalo/Seattle, etc)...but not that border!
I bet the Canucks really would have liked Portland (Sinclair, Schmidt) . But, for some reason either the USSF keeps dissing Portland or Portland isn't seeking the games.
yes, Yes, YESSSSSSSSSSSSS. The 30-mile trip to Frisco will help even out the 4,900 mile trip to France. As always, I'm buying prematch Margaritas at The Blue Goose across from Toyota Park.
Maybe Cascadia will be part of the TofC tournament. They tend to put in the West to cut travel for Japan & Australia.
Im sure u find Mexico in Edinburg where they should be able to draw. That puts Costa Rica in Cary if they qualify.
Dates according to FOXSports r July 26- Aug 2. I haven't heard anything about the venues yet but it's usually in the Western half of the country to make travel easier for Japan & Australia.
I wonder why USSoccer has avoided Portland on the women side??? I've never been but everyone raves about seeing a Match there. Is there any doubt at all that it would be a sell out? - even on a weekday?
About the only thing I've been able to guess is that they are trying to build support for women's soccer, so they're going where there's potential support that is not yet realized. Heaven forbid they reward cities where there's actual support already realized. But, who knows, maybe there are other good reasons.
I googled the top pop metro areas and they seem to have visited the top 30 in the last 5 years except - - #10 Boston - East Hartford CT 1 1/2 hours away #20 Baltimore - Philly (home of Mill's beloved Eagles) 2 hours away #22 Charlotte - Cary 2 1/2 hours away #25 PORTLAND #27 Sacramento - San Jose 2 hours away #28 Vegas Baby cp - your point makes sense, if you are right, I'm making a sign that says North Texas potentially supports the USWNT in hopes that they keep having matches here
When I lived in Seattle a few years ago, I went to several Portland Thorns games that always had over 16,000 in attendance no matter who they were playing. I also went to a USWNT game in 2012 in the same stadium in Portland against Ireland, I believe and the attendance was "only" 10,000 at the game. The Thorns get a much bigger crowd than that. So just because the Thorns get 17-18,000 a game that doesn't mean the USWNT will sell out, IMO. It is my opinion that In Portland as opposed to other parts of the country, their team (Thorns) comes before the USWNT. And I LOVE that.
Last time they were in Boston was June 15, 2013 against South Korea at Gillette. It was Morgan Brian's debut I believe.
USWNT to play Chile twice in September FIFA window (August 31 and September 4): http://www.anfp.cl/noticia/30780/la-roja-femenina-jugara-dos-amistosos-ante-el-campeon-del-mundo
Ecstatic when any USWNT Match is announced. Soooooo the day before and after the Labor Day weekend, should make travel fun. Was just wondering - May 2018 Look at it, seems like a perfectly good month to me. I'm I missing something - - oh yeah, besides USWNT matches. I don't have that many months left for these goose eggs.
Y'all must hate So Cal man. LET us have our Summer tournament here for once! We don't even have a NWSL team and our UCLA season doesn't start until August. Jose, Portland and Seattle are too far away from us.
