Woops, just realized my spread sheet somehow combined the Feb 13 and Feb 15th games. So there were 5 games in a little over 5 years. 1. Feb 11, 2012 - 20,677 - sellout 2. Jan 23, 2014 - 20,862 - sellout 3. Feb 10, 2016 - 8,134 4. Feb 13, 2016 - 15,032 5. Feb 15, 2016 - 7,658 So, in one week, there were over 30k fans who came out to Frisco. That's really not a bad turnout...
I'm less annoyed at playing Russia, since there are supposedly games against Japan, Brazil, and Norway lined up later this year.
If those games against Japan, Brazil, and Norway happen then yeah, a couple games against a lower opponent isn't so bad.
I do understand that there is more to getting matches than snapping ur fingers and I also understand not every match can be against a top five team. Still, they play a finite number of matches in a season and should be trying to get something out of each one.
I do like that they r at least playing Norway away and will probably have a decent second opponent for the trip.
I would love to see a friendly against Sweden. In two meetings at the Algarve Cup, one meeting at the World Cup, and most painfully one meeting at the Olympics, the U.S. has always been stymied by their former coach and her team. I recognize that a victory in a friendly without even the context of a tournament like Algarve would be limited valediction, but I think we could glean some valuable insights for the next matchup in a more significant setting.
Yes, the USWNT is coming back to their undisputed one and only true home of North Texas. Maybe my daily letter writing campaign to USSoccer paid off. The attendance figures above do not bode well for a 7:30 Kick on a Thursday night during a school week......6:30 would have helped.
I think if you pick any venue/location you would see lower attendance on a weekday... And how many times have we seen the USWNT play 3 games in one week at the same venue? I can't recall that ever happening before. When you have that happen, you're gonna see the attendance be split. Not everyone is going to be able to go to all three games. And so, yes, of course, more people chose to go to the game on the weekend. But if the only option is Thursday...
The US WNT has the most players of any WNT on the FIFPro 2016 World XI's shortlist with 9: Hope Solo, Julie Johnston, Meghan Klingenberg, Ali Krieger, Becky Sauerbrunn, Tobin Heath, Carli Lloyd, Megan Rapinoe, and Alex Morgan. (The shortlist has 55 players; France has 8 on the list, Germany 6.) The FIFPro World XI will be announced on March 8, International Women's Day.
The Norway game in Norway in June has been officially announced by USSF. The US WNT will play Norway on June 11, and the article mentions that this will be the second of a 2 game set with the other game not ready to be announced yet (FIFA window is June 5-13).
Hope Solo, Ali Krieger, Carli Lloyd, and Alex Morgan were named to the 2016 FIFPro World XI. Full list from https://www.fifpro.org/news/women-s-football-finest-the-world-xi/en/ Goalkeeper: Hope Solo (USA, free agent) Defenders: Leonie Maier (Germany, FC Bayern Munich) Nilla Fischer (Sweden, VfL Wolfsburg) Wendie Renard (France, Olympique Lyonnais) Ali Krieger (USA, Orlando Pride) Midfielders: Dzsenifer Marozsan (Germany, Olympique Lyonnais) Carli Lloyd (USA, Manchester City) Marta (Brazil, FC Rosengard) Attackers: Alex Morgan (USA, Olympique Lyonnais) Ada Hegerberg (Norway, Olympique Lyonnais) Eugenie Le Sommer (France, Olympique Lyonnais)
I can live with the midfield and attackers but my back four would be: Lucy Bronze, England, Man City Wendie Renard, France, Lyon Becky Sauerbrunn, US, FCKC Amel Majri, France, Lyon

There was speculation earlier but now there's confirmation from the coach: In remarks at #USWNT camp today, Jill Ellis affirmed once and for all that the team will only gather in FIFA windows during the NWSL season: pic.twitter.com/0HdcasvjgJ— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) March 31, 2017
Which is Ellisspeak for extended FIFA window. The window is April 3-11. Im thinking most NWSL coaches would have liked to have had their NT players for this weekends preseason matches.

I'm not sure about that. These partly are about getting a good look at players who are "on the bubble" for making the team. Having the NT players gone made that a lot easier.
I agree but if Im trying to figure if Jane Doe fits on my final roster Id like the opportunity to see how she does with my best players against their best players. Usually these bubble player make the team based on their ability to fill a niche role. For example I thought Cox upped her stock and Im sure it helped that she was back there with Sonnett and Menges.
