I swear I choked on my coffee reading this article... http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080822/SPORTS06/808220420 Quote: "Oh, my gosh!" Ryan said. "Did you just see that? Hope Solo just made a fantastic save."
Let's move the commentary elsewhere, please. We have enough threads degenerating into the Solo saga. Add the context to Ryan's comment, "There was genuine joy in his voice; not a hint of animosity", and let life continue. From Abby's hometown paper: Wambach revels in gold from afar Mending U.S. soccer star sees prediction come true for team And a Solo bit: All clear, kid
You mean as the host of the blog or the freak in the mask? The answer... neither. As far as the blogger, this should have tipped you off that it's not me... "Merrill is a long time writer for American Soccer News about women's soccer both WUSA and USWNT. Otherwise a professor of philosophy." Um... nope... not me!
If that's the same Merrill that was with them when they debuted as CyberSoccerNews, y'all should buy him a beer. 'Cause he was my editor when I was writing back then.
After the team won gold in 2004, they appeared on a few talk shows when they came home. I know they're less glamorous now without Mia, etc., but has anyone heard if they are going to be on tv anywhere this week?
Beulah has posted her report! It's in her forum this time, in pieces ... er chapters ... http://pub1.bravenet.com/forum/73727476/show/869283 ... due to technical difficulties.

It's not this week, but it's being reported that Oprah will have all USA gold medalists on her show on Sept. 11th. Not sure if they can make it due to the friendly on the 13th, but the show may be taped a few days earlier. Can't imagine them saying no to Oprah, lol. Even if it's just a recorded message.
