Atoms makes sense if our secondary switches away from light blue again in the future. (Although I guess you could do a "white" Atoms tribute...

Spartans would be more black I assume? Maybe a black and gray uni would be sort of cool....

Ukranians with a Milanish type look? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_Ukrainians

Fury would be great with a dark red/orange scheme.

Man City Away (for the Ukranians), which would look nice (because just like this year's jersey, its FC Tucson colors.)
Also, the NASL may own the Fury rights, and not the Atoms. That's why Nick only mentioned the Atoms in the interview, and the not the Fury.

Does the new NASL actually own the intellectual property of the old NASL? Who did they buy it from, and wouldn't the Timbers, Sounders, and Whitecaps have an issue if that was the case?

I recall on the Chivas LA renaming thread that someone mentioned the new NASL owns the rights to 'LA Aztecs' (preventing Chivas LA from rebranding as the Aztecs.) So they don't own all of the property, but they own some it. That's why Nick only mentioned the Atoms, but not the Fury.

I do not think the NASL owns any rights to the Fury. That team was short-lived in the NASL and was moved to Montreal. I suspect, like the Cosmos, that someone owns those rights and is just sitting on them. Toffs has been making retro Fury shirts for a number of years because the jersey was quite unique, so someone owns the right and has made something licensing them. It may be a case of the atoms' rights being accessible and the Fury, not.

As a little aside, I remember being kind of surprised when I was in the Chelsea museum to see a former Chelsea player's Fury shirt on display.

So NASL definitely owns the rights to the Fury?

In other news, 2 plus 2 equals 5.

I'm just guessing. Why would he just leave out the Fury in his interview, but mention the Spartans and Ukranian, two teams that the average Philadelphia soccer fan could care less about?

Aren't there other now-defunct teams that he could've mentioned, but didn't?

    Philadelphia Nationals
    Philadelphia Fever
    Philadelphia Americans/Uhrik Truckers
    Philadelphia Centennials
    Philadelphia Charge
    Philadelphia Hibernian

    I'm only half joking ...

Aren't the Ukranians, Spartans, Atoms and Bethlehem Steel the only teams from our past to win national championships though?

Well since the Union are smart, they'll probably stick with the NASL teams for the next two Third Jerseys.

I wouldn't see an away kit next year with AC Milan's shade of gold. Take away the pocket and make the black/red into blue, and this could look pretty sharp.

The next logical step is obviously faux-denim.
