You can see both Arsenals and West Hams new stadium in the picture below, Arsenals on the top right and West Hams on the top left.
That's really remarkable. Here in our nation's capital, it has taken about 20 years to get one stadium that will hold only 19,000 (still no groundbreaking, I hope I didn't just jinx it).
Here are some more and where current white hart lane fits in with the new stadium, all 3 pictures posted by user "weretheshelfside" on sc forum.
This one is from @newspursstadium on twitter, the progess that will have been made at the end of the season
apparently the first of the raking beams* have started going up this week for the lower level. *the diagonal supports for stands. edit: here ya go: (from SC)
Fascinating stuff, the new stadium looks like it will have a good atmosphere. West Ham's ridiculously named London Stadium (sponsorship to follow) reminded me of those Eastern European stadiums you used to see in the old European matches. It looked like the broadcast was coming form Kiev or Warsaw. The current stadium with the open corner looks a bit like the Britannia! Maybe when the weather worsens, we can bludgeon teams to death with long throws and corners, lol! How are Spurs handling this season as per Last Season at WHL, etc? it's not like the club is leaving WHL like Arsenal and West Ham, who moved to different locations. Can it technically be considered a final season at WHL if the new ground is pretty much in the same place?
I haven't been yet this year, so can't say, but judging by the online shop, there doesn't seem to be as much playing up of the 'least season for WHL' as I would've expected. y'know, commemorative shirts, pennants, scarves, etc. I went to Upton Park last fall (just to experience it before its demise), and their gift shop was full of that kind of stuff. I figured that'd be the very kind of thing Levy would be all over.
Premier League is going to be an interesting place in the next few years. New stadiums for Spurs, West Ham and Chelsea, expansion at Anfield and I believe Everton will be building a new ground, too. Hopefully, this will lead to more competitive seasons like we saw last year with Spurs of course winning the league!
It sucks. Even though I know they'd just be fleecing me for a jersey that just has "WHL 1899-2017" under the badge, I want them to take my money.
