I think game nights will have special trains, and will be filled with other fans, will be a different experience than riding any other day. The new arena downtown will also see things improve as more people use it for events. So chin up, it will certainly improve.
Well, they've repeatedly stated they won't build the stadium without the MLS awarding the franchise. Yeah, I'm disappointed in the 19,621. At least it won't be the smallest stadium in the league (hmmm, I wonder who settled for that?).
It's the law of supply and demand. They can justify more expensive tickets if they can create critical demand over supply.
Article: "stadium capacity could grow to as high as 21,500 attendees for concerts, with seats removed at one end to add a stage."
Avaya's only 18,000, so... (shrug) Question - would SRFC be selling out every game if we were still going to games at Hughes? Better in my mind to have a smaller venue completely full and rocking, and add capacity as it dictates.
I'm not surprised by the seating at all. When the Kings finally got their new arena plans done they only added a couple hundred seats to what they had at Arco. It's what this market can support consistently, not what you can do at a peak.
Arco has more general seating. G1C makes up the difference with more luxury box and premium loft seating
I was told the final seating numbers will change with finalized plans. Not sure of final seating numbers, or how close to max it will be. There are some configuration options. Sounds like 25k will be max for stadium though
Everything you could ever want to know about the (proposed) design of the stadium starts on page 2-100 of the "2.0 Project Description" on this page. Enjoy! [Warning: Very large PDF] http://www.cityofsacramento.org/Com...al/Impact-Reports/Railyards Specific Plan EIR
thanks! look forward to seeing them, and your take on the presentation Sent from my SM-T230NU using Tapatalk
The pics I took were mostly from the displays they had in either media room. So the attached MAY not have everything. This is the information I got from a variety of reps: Announcement will be made during the MLS All-Star game after the MLS board of governors meet and vote on expansion markets. If they don't vote during that game, then the next window will be during the playoffs in November. The time table for breaking ground on the stadium is two-fold: first the official announcement must be made by the board of governors on expansion. Second, the meeting last week was the first stage of the proposal. Nothing is going to be approved until at least October/November timeframe. They weren't allowing public questions. This next wave expansion will be one of the last in MLS. With a final number of franchises spread evenly across the country, the direction will be to align the leagues into one similar to those seen in europe, whereby low ranking teams can be relegated, while high performing teams in lower leagues can promote to MLS. Lightrail is expanding to include a stop near the stadium, roads will be widened to allow for more bicycle traffic. Also, new housing will be built including parks/schools to accomodate the new housing. All methods of impact have been studied from stadium vibration during games to helicopter noise pollution. Air quality from every facet as studied. Two anchor tenants are planned: Kaiser and MLS stadium Land use numbers are as follows: Housing units; 10-12k Office space: 2.9 million sq ft Medical offices: 510k sq ft Retail, 1.4m sq ft Flex mix use: 500k sq ft MLSstadium/seats 25k Hotel rooms: 1100 Historic/cultural preservation: 485k sq ft (native american burials as well as historic railyard relics) Museum: 180k sq ft Open space: 41.2 acres Stadium specific numbers: 14.7 acres 25k attendee full capacity, 20k initial construction 27k attendees with pitch use 37 annual events, including 7 concerts 5 acres of public plaza Parking in railyards, river district, downtown They're reqlly hoping people will take lightrail to the stadium (i won't be... it's an hour ride one way). I'm not burning 2 hours on gameday when i can spend leess than half driving. from my bigger plastic brick
That's all of the pics. Let me know if you have questions that I haven't covered. from my bigger plastic brick
I heard correctly. The gent I spoke to is with SRFC after spending many years with MLS teams... He's connected. Now, whether they actually do a promotion/relegation organization is up in the air, but going by what he told me, it's being discussed. My fingers are crossed that we can see something like that. My question is when SRFC gets elevated to MLS, will we get a new team to take its place? from my bigger plastic brick
Thanks! Very informative! I've linked your post on MLS's Pro/Rel thread. A lot of folks will be very interested, for sure!
thanks calcmandan! looks like the overall railyard plan hasn't changed much. the 7 concerts per year that they propose will be fun, but once the railyard residents move in and complain to council about noise/lights, expect restrictions. i"m rather shocked they said anything about relegation or future alignments. interesting.......thank you! It wasn't a topic of anything the city people discussed. This was part of a conversation I had with a gentleman aligned with our team. The actual event didn't cover anymore than timelines for approval on the proposals. They didn't even want public comment or questions. from my bigger plastic brick
Agreed that pro/rel comment is some breaking news if that has any truth to it. Again being corroborated that an announcement likely coming during the All Star game. Looking good for Sacramento. Thanks for all of those pics and info! I'd also recommend looking at the EIR itself, tons of images in there including some stadium designs we haven't seen before!
