New rules will be tried out in the KNVB lower leagues

One of them is a kick-in instead of a throw-in. I totally agree with this, I never understood why a player cant handle the ball with his hand during the game, but when the ball is out of play he suddenly can. Totally retarded!

The expression we use over here when the ball goes out on the sidelines is "....into touch...." meaning it can be handled. I don't have any issues with this as it has been in the rule book forever.

Yeah, but the game could be sped up and become more attacking with kick-ins

Any kick-in near the keeper's box will essentially become a corner. So instead of 5 corners per match you now get 10 or so, and that usually means higher scoring.

The game would also be sped up because its quicker to just kick the ball then it is to pick it up and do that awkward throw. Maybe by only a few seconds or so, but it will make a difference.

And you can also keep the ball on the grass as opposed to a throw-in, which is always a bounce ball
