hows that ratio work on a per capita basis I wonder. You need to keep in mind that as westerners we tend to be have a western biased view towards our history. ie We adopt western customs etc and so tend to look more favourably on the antecedents of them. And hasn't the West's chequered military history in the Middle East been an issue for roughly 100 years. WWI was fought over access to ME oil reserves.
