Has anyone bought a 2003 Quake authentic jersey, home or away?

I bought both. In the previous years' models I took an XL, but in this ridiculous sizing I bought XXXL. They're really comfortable and worth the investment...but go big.

thanx. i took the plunge and ordered an away jersey, which i've loved ever since they debuted v. the rapids in the opening game this year. hopefully it'll fit; if so, i may go for the home as well.

Also, be very aware of a subtle but SIGNIFICANT difference. I am the proud owner of an "authentic replica" home jersey, as opposed to my "authentic" road jersey. They are definitely different. The authentic, true to its name, is made of the best stuff with the real mesh paneling and the embroidered star over the Quakes' crest. The replica...nice (and comfortable) but no star and a lesser grade of mesh panels. The replicas are cheaper and are still quite nice and comfortable but if you're a stickler for the real deal...be aware of this distinction. What's up with Nike...an "authentic replica?!"

Little difference between them and a government bureaucracy is there? George Orwell, where are you?

That guy on the screen looks a hell of a lot like Bill Gates.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp It's interesting that you mention that:

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp It's believed that when Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak (the two founders of Apple Computer) were visiting the set of that commercial (which was directed by Ridley Scott), that Jobs mentioned "Big Brother" (i.e. the guy on the screen) was meant to represent IBM. Wozniak then off-handedly commented that the "Big Brother" they really should be wary of was Bill Gates, who was already a competitor at that point but wasn't yet the computer-industry behometh he and his company eventually became (and was thus dismissed by most at the time).

    &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp GO EARTHQUAKES!!! :(

Long thread, so I'm not sure if this has been touched on or not, but I've always liked the idea of keeping the black shorts for home and away and having the jersey and sock colors change for home versus away. With the blue inserts on both the away shirt and the black shorts, I think they'd look good together and, not to endorse the thug mentality of the Raiders and the like, the introduction of black just seems to say you mean business.

San Jose is so good that Man Utd stole their kit design :)

Although to be fair, Metros shirt is a dead ringer for Inter Milan's previous home shirt...

well i ordered mine roughly two months ago now...

and well, i was impressed with the web store, and the service, and my shirt duly arrived two weeks later... take note that i live in sunny liverpool, england, so that delivery time is quite impressive.

and as for the shirt... i really like it, wearing it more than i originally thought... probably because my fave long sleaved Everton home shirt (2003-4), was anialated by some broken spanish iron...

it would be nice to have the away shirt available in somewhat "normal" sizes of medium and large. however i wont hold my breath...

because it would seem that there are quite a few years ahead of us before mls is big enough to warrant the selling of every kit combination under sun (like the EPL)...

Full 'Quakes away Goal Keeper kit by 2020 perhaps?

The mods will probably want to drop this into the "kit" thread, but I didn't want it to get lost there.

    As of Friday, September 12th:

California Custom has a limited number of home and away player jerseys in sizes M-XL (yes, they are European sizing, so they run small).

They also have the authentic 2003 letters, numbers, and sponsor patches to customize them (the numbers have the MLS logos on them and such...)

Give them a call or stop by.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp When people over there look at your shirt, do they know who the Earthquakes are or are they completely perplexed?

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp I just got an XL home blue Quakes authentic jersey and an XL away white Quakes authentic jersey this morning [IMG] - so if there is one less XL authentic jersey available of each color, you'll know why.

    &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp GO EARTHQUAKES!!! :(
