    The Dynamo/Dash/BBVA announced a couple of new sponsors today;

Coushatta Pitchside Patio - I forget who sponsored this last year (if anyone). Pumping up Lake Charles as a resort destination because Texas doesn't have casino gambling has always struck me like a New York team trying to sell people that Camden, NJ was a destination.

ParkMobile Official Parking Partner - this is more stadium related and there a number of different parking apps for Houston and other cities to find spots in garages and lots and reserve them. I had to chuckle about this quote related to the Dash:

“Houston is one of our best markets in the country and now our large base of users in the area will be able to reserve parking for Dynamo and Dash matches.”

I guess to satisfy demand for Dash matches they just rented out the lot at the BBQ place to accommodate all 50 cars that carry the 700 actual Dash fans to the games.

The mega theme behind an urban, downtown MLS SSS being built here in Houston is to allow our Dynamo fans and supporters access to the variety of bars, pubs and grills in an urban setting, so that we can eat and drink before and after the game. With a Pitch Side Patio the concept promoted by our FO last season and now doubling down here in 2020 is that our FO removed the ideal seats behind the goal. THos seats right next to the player's tunnel. Thus one can eat and drink like you are at a pub or grill, lounge in this area, all the while the pro athletes are on display. Ya know, the pro soccer thing that everyone else has come to actually focus on!
We can go back to a bar's patio and lounge AFTER the sporting event. The soccer is the priority. It is such a respected sport.
Our FO is so cute these days.

I think the patio is that area at floor level in the player tunnel that overlooks the pitch. I believe that it can be reserved for parties of individuals or corporate stuff, which would tend to prevent any single walk up folks.

What they should have done when they designed the stadium was to look at KC and the bar they put into the corner of their stadium.

i have been curious if part of the reason we struggle financially is they conceptualized some sort of a surrounding development they would also own that never became because of having to bear so much of the stadium cost alone.

It would tie in with the odd fact that with Golden Boy Promotions and that company from back East our FO hired to assist in securing concerts and events irrc @Westside Cosmo and yet with both arms of this side of our club's business approach, there is so very little that BBVA hosts outside of Dynamo, Dash, National Team matches from our region and the one off Rugby football match.

the newer MLS expansion teams paying $250-$300 million all have surround development plans attached to their stadiums (or in the case of Charlotte, using the MLS team to get stadium upgrades from the taxpayers) because it doesn’t pencil out otherwise.

Dynamo franchise was essentially bought on the cheap and they decided that Downtown would be better for overall soccer and stadium business than a suburb location with development possibilities. Clearly that hasn’t materialized like they thought it would.

But go look at Seattle, Portland, even the LA teams - their business is soccer only and they don’t seem to have a revenue problem. A lot of the Dynamo shortcomings are related to the Dynamo internal factors.

well, isn't there some sort of non compete with the hoops stadium? is that still in place? that at least certain events not only we don't have but during the term we can't have.

but then surely you know this when you buy the land and put it there. ok, these are the ground rules.

it would be further jacked up if we got entangled in this for a modest few million or to let Harris County be the legal owners for tax or liability reasons. we had to pay for most of this ourselves. it's goofy if we have to play by some county non-compete for their tiny role in this.

oh, no doubt, cheap risk averse owners, poor GM.

I also have a feeling we're dealing with the LBOs to establish the ownership structure and the stadium debt. someone pointed out some sort of county filing a while back like they refinanced or had a work out.

it was me - I can’t say for sure what happened but at least now 3 times Bank of America has filed documents indicating some type of amendment to financing docs. Amegy had the loan at the start and when Brener bought out AEG they took out the Amegy loan and replaced it with BofA. The stadium lease with the county was pledged as part of that.
