Yes, it's a young Czech U21 international who Brøndby coach Alexander Zorniger know from his time as Stuttgart manager ... Brøndby now mainly seem to be shopping in Germany, or signing German players, like Hany Mukhtar and Benedikt Röcker.

Kliment is an interesting prospect that just never really ended up getting a chance at Stuttgart after Zorniger left. I think he can become a solid contributor to this team, as he's a versatile forward that can play as a stiker and winger. From matches I've seen of him, Kliment looked quick and agile like Teemu Pukki.

First defeat of the season for Brondby, after the 1-2 result vs Viborg. Hany Mukhtar's injury has come at a bad time, as his presence has been missed lately. Scoring has been down in the last 2 match days since the FCK game. Mukhtar is expected to be out until around early October.

I'll just go classic by posting this video of all the official Danish Superliga club club songs this year, song by the Danish National Public broadcaster DR's girls choir :

Brondby finish 2-2 vs Randers. Initially up in the lead, but unfortunately conceding both goals in the second half. Also unable to take advantage of FCK drawing in their match as well this weekend. Positive note is that Mukhtar has returned from injury and playing in good form already.

so what are peoples' thoughts about the new format for this year? it's neat that the middle of the table teams still have something to play for this deep into the season.

No complaints as of yet ... I think we will have to wait until this season is over, before making an in deep analysis..

FC Helsingør (Elsinore, known from William Shakespeares Hamlet) have just won promotion to the Danish Superliga when they managed a 2-2 AET away result in the play-off against the (now relegated) Superliga team Viborg FF .... the first leg in Helsingør finished 1-1

FC Helsingør is only a part-time professional team, that before this season was just hoping to escape relegation from the Danish 1. Division, but they have surprised everyone and the promotion seemed quite deserved, playing some better fiootball than Viborg in the play-off's.

The relegation play-off's have made it much more interesting and the last games more intense ... When AGF beat Viborg 1-0 at home in the relegation play-off Final, to escape a relegation battle against Helsingør, there were 17,462 people attending the game, which was the highest attendance in Aarhus all season ...

The battle for the last Europa League spot also made it more interesting and here it was a one-game Final, with the home advantage to FC Midtjylland that finished 4th in the Superliga, against the top team from the relegation battle, which also seems fair.

The big question before this season was if 14 Superliga teams instead of 12 is too much, especially regarding the impact it would have on the Danish 1 Division with 3 teams being promoted and only one (Hobro) going down last season. Would the 1. Division become too weak, when also FC Vestsjælland went bankrupt after they were relegated from the Superliga ?... So in fact the 1. Division now was losing 4 full-time professional teams.

Well, the 3 promoted teams Lyngby, Silkeborg and Horsens all survived in the Superliga, with Lyngby even finishing 3rd and earning a spot in Europa League ... Silkeborg won their relegation group and easilly escaped relegation, while Horsens more narrowly escaped by beating Esbjerg 3-2 at home (1-1 away) and then also the 2nd placed 1. Division team Vendsyssel 0-0 (home) and 3-1 (away).in the play-off's

As for the Danish 1. Division, the NordicBet Liga, Hobro managed a quick return to the Superliga as expected, while more surprisingly the 3rd placed part-time professionals FC Helsingør also managed to win promotion to the Superliga for the first time ever. So next season the more experienced full-time professionals from Esbjerg and Viborg will be fighting for promotion. Which should make the NordicBet Liga a bit physically tougher... But the fact that two teams managed to win promotion this season, imply that the 1. Division has not really become much weaker.

Newly promoted Hobro are making some clever moves by signing two key players from the other newly promoted FC Helsingør (Elsinore), both making their own team stronger, while making it even more likely that Elsinore will end up with the 1 sure relegation spot ...

Like all the other Superliga teams, besides Elsinore, Hobro are a full-time professsionals, so it's easy for them to pick up their key players. So they have signed a 3-year deal with Danish-American midfielder Vito Hammershøy-Mistrati and a 2-year deal with Elsinore centre back Rasmus Minor Petersen. Obviously also making the two players full-time professionals, which should also help them improve.

Perhaps i should add that a part-time professional Superliga team like Elsinore is more than highly unusual, so it will be very interesting to see how they will do next season . Obviously they are mainly going to attract young talented players who do not care about money but just have the ambition of playing Superliga...

So I suppose their players are going to be more than highly motivated to show how talented they are and what they can do, though you could argue that a part-time professional team has no place in the top league... but they earned their place by finsihing 3rd in a league with full-time professionals and also by beating a full-time professional Superliga team in the play-off's.

Hany Mukhtar has been excellent for Brøndby this past season, which is also why he left Benfica to sign a 4-year permanent contract ... in my opinion he should have been selceted for the German U21's for the U21 Euro Championships.

Just like in the Olympics, Denmark is only going to field a B-team in the U21 Euro finals, but Germany are obviously doing the same, which is why I find it silly that they did not pick Hany Mukhtar who has been among the very best players in the Superliga.

Here is his last free kick againt FCK :

and a few Mukhtar highlights :

Great to see Mukhtar doing so well at Brondby. From what I've read, he's really enjoying his time there. The team and playing system has allowed him to achieve his breakthrough last season.

It's a shame that Dolberg won't be participating in the U21 Euros. One of the top talents in Europe. Him and Sisto would have been a big boost for Denmark. I have heard that Ingvartsen is drawing a lot of interest though. He's been mentioned as a transfer target for several Bundesliga clubs.

According to Brøndby coach Alexander Zorniger, he is trying to get his favorite player Dominik Kaiser from Leipzig .... a player who Zorniger himself got to Leipzig back in 2012 when he was their coach, though they won't let Kaiser go to Brøndby as of yet and I guess he also want to taste the Leipzig-success he has been a key part of a bit longer...

He was player of the year when they were playing 3. Bundesliga and obviously a key player for them in 2. Bundesliga, and is still their team captain, but now that they are in the top of the Bundesliga, they no longer use him as a regular starter, though he is getting minutes due to he experience, but soon I guess they will have to find another captain, who is a regular starter.. He is also turning 29 in a few month, so he is not going to be a big sales object in the year to come, when getting closer to 30 ...

Denmark were also fielding a kind of "B" team last time around, without Eriksen, Jores Okore, Andreas Cornelius, Lucas Andersen, Nicolai Boilesen and Youssef Toutouh ... Lucas is playing this time though, but then several others are missing, like the players you mentioned, Pascal Gregor who played at the Olympics ... Yussuf Poulsen from Leipzig ... Riza Durmisi from Betis ... and Pierre Emile Højbjerg who is still only 21 and likewise Andreas Christensen from Gladbach (Chelsea)... but this is just how it is ... their clubs wont let them go to the U21 Euros ...

Any news on whether Viktor Fischer will be leaving Middlesbrough this summer? That club was incredibly unorganized this past season, and he was never really given a chance to prove himself. I think that Bundesliga club like Eintracht Frankfurt or Gladbach could be a good fit for him.

No ... no news there ... but Viktor Fischer should never have moved to Middlesbrough in the first place ... a defensive minded team fighting to escape relegation is not the place an attacking midfielder like him was going to develop and prove his worth ...

The difference is that Hobro were able add full-time professional players as soon as they were promoted ... the first being Quincy Antipas who they got from Brøndby on a DKK 900k a year ($135k) full-time contract. Helsingør are not able to do that, so they probably won't be able to reinforce their team with experienced Superliga players...

Bundesliga club Mainz are remaining tight-lipped amid reports they are planning to launch a summer swoop for Middlesbrough winger Viktor Fischer.

According to Danish news site Ekstra Bladet , Fischer's situation is being monitored by German top-flight side Mainz this summer, with the European side keen on a permanent transfer or a loan move for a player in desperate need of kick-starting his career.

It is claimed in the same publication that Fischer visited south Germany earlier this week, after being informed he will not be part of Monk's plans this season.

But Mainz sporting director Rouven Schröder, speaking to Bild , refused to be drawn on any speculation.

"There are a lot of players with an interesting CV, and right now there are many rumours," Schröder said.

That is a stance Schröder has maintained throughout, with the club also linked with a move for German goalkeeper Rene Adler.

"I basically do not comment any rumours or names - so do not this one either," he added.

"What remains, however, is what I have always said - we want to improve everywhere, to check all positions, including those of the goalkeeper.

"This is our state, there is no more to say."

Fischer - who is expected to report to Rockliffe for pre-season training with the rest of his Boro teammates on Wednesday - has also been linked with Scottish champions Celtic and Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem.

Will be in Copenhagen the weekend after next for a spot of groundhopping. Is the city easy to get around using public transport?
