I have no idea how other stadiums in the world manage to hold concerts without a permanent eyesore at one end.
I think the press and luxury boxes taking up one whole side of the Boca Juniors stadium looks stupid.
Yeah. I dont understand what's so undesirable about using a temporary stage. I'm sure it makes it easier and faster to setup and tear down concerts but is that worth leaving one whole end of the stadium basically vacant. Maybe stages on the field damage the grass? I have no idea. I just can't see why a permanent stage is so relevant.
Cost and the amount of time it takes to flip the set up? Who knows? I would imagine, though, that it would be very possible to have a built-in stage designed with some sort of permanent, retractable/removable seats. The temp bleachers we sometimes get dropped into the Mapfre stage are miserable, uncomfortable, rickety things (at least they've been when I've used them). Again, cost. We retro-fit Crew Stadium to house a stage. Presumably installing one with an integrated seating system was too hard or too expensive, but I have a hard time believing that it's impossible, especially with a new build.
I make it to a few every year. I'll buy season tickets again if they stay even though I'm in Chicago.
Presumably, the status of Mapfre if/when the Crew moves to a new stadium would be up in the air. Would the Crew have any interest in retaining it? And I do wonder if the Ohio expo people might imagine other uses for the land, possibly related to the quarter horse congress. Obviously, I'm just making stuff up, but a 20k stadium with no tenant wouldn't have much use, especially if the Crew are now operating out of a new 20k stadium with far better amenities that can host all of the events the old stadium used to host, but host them better. I'm sure the team would rather retain RotR, and the cash it brings in, than gift it to their former stadium.
