The problem could have been solved, if only... https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politic...-should-have-taken-his-fathers-brexit-advice/ May had listened to President Trump Most will be blocked by the Torygraph paywall. So your asking, what was his advice? https://www.npr.org/2019/03/20/7050...e-minister-should-have-listened-to-his-father Trump Jr. did not go into detail on what his father had advised. Asked last year for details by the BBC, May said, with an amused expression: "He told me I should sue the EU. Not go into negotiations; sue them."
Litigation seems to be about as good an idea as anything else I've heard. Make sure it's an English court too, while she's at it.
... and it's that sort of aggressive, bold thinking that has made him a legend among world statesmen.
Doesn't look like the leadership meeting was to discuss a general election, but rather an opportunity for May to push for her deal again. Having spoken to several of those present at meeting with PM, here’s what I’ve been told happened;- PM restated the case for her deal- Didn’t entertain alternatives seriously - Corbyn didn’t want to take part with Independent Group— Nick Eardley (@nickeardleybbc) March 20, 2019 Oh.. And for Corbyn to be an a**.. He walked out because the "leader" for the Independent Group was also there and Corbyn refused to be involved in the meeting if they were.
Well, that's their version of events. It's a lot more likely, at this stage, that he simply asked if there was any chance of her altering her red lines or a 2nd referendum and she said no or woffled about 'honouring the vote of the British people'.
I watched this live... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-politics-47644969/brexit-stella-creasy-slams-head-on-desk Zahawi is particularly annoying.
That's also the version of the other parties that were at the event and Labour's response to why Corbyn left wasn't because of May's refusal to listen to alternatives, but because she broke the agreed upon terms.
Conservative MP Nigel Evans says May ruled out a general election in a meeting with ERG. Theresa May ruled out a general election at meeting just now with ERG, says Nigel Evans who was there - @SkyNews— Lisa O'Carroll (@lisaocarroll) March 20, 2019
Oh.. And May’s announcement basically comes down to a third meaningful vote on her deal and somehow blaming MPs for not coming to a decision?? I thought the two overwhelmingly opposed votes were pretty indicative of the MPs opinions on her plan.
Why do you think that? At least in the Netherlands (but afaI can tell, in other EU countries ditto) the exit parties refuse to talk about what is now their position, relevant as we today had an election, as they were cheering the Brexit and trumpetting around they would go for a Nexit, but since it was very impopular with the voters they run when a reporter asks them if they're still pushing for a Nexit.
9 days, well actually 8 why's does there need to a traffic jam at the border? While the UK is ramping up it's ability to inspect trucks, just check the percentage that it can without causing unacceptable delays. With the others being allowed to come in as they do now.
Well, strictly speaking, they're his political opponents who have been overtime trying to make this about him 'failing the country'. This, despite, the fact that the majority of them now say they want a similar plan to the one he's been proposing for over a year. I doubt he was best pleased about a group that's never been elected, (in their own right), being there as well but the truth is that he DID get to hear May say that she wasn't budging an inch. After that it's all just hot air, tbh.
Dude, you posted this about 3am, right? Go to bed. Your country will still be a cluster******** in the morning.
It's pure insanity It was actually amazing to go to NZ for a few weeks and experience functional leadership
It has been fun watching the slow creep of the American posters on this thread. A bit of friendly advice: Do what Wankler's doing. The Brits all know how embarrassing it is. You go a long way reminding them they're not alone in the shitshow.
I've been going to the UK on business multiple times per year since I stopped living there in 2005 Ordinarily no one pays me any attention. I arrive for 2 or 3 days and leave. Have done for 14 years. Probably they have all that in their database. Last time I was back, I really noticed the open hostility at the border. I have never seen that before. There is something deeply troubling happening IMO. Like goons in shabby suits eyeballing everyone in the queues bad. Then I went to NZ a couple of week ago "hey guys!"
