Never heard a sweeter sounding word than Feyenoord part 2

Discussion in 'The Netherlands' started by feyenoordsoccerfan, Jun 4, 2012.

  1. It's very unclear what team will be presented in the Fanday Helicopter presentation.
I donot think Berghuis moves. He said he learned from his Watford experience, which I take for not wanting a team battling against relegation.
I guess Vilhena and Jorgensen and maybe Tapia are gone after the summer.
Problem is money. Not much to spend.

Why doesn't your club have the same finances as Ajax. Is the problem that management is not good at merchandising? Game day revenue must be good.

  3. PSV and Ajax sell their payers with a bonus of at least 10 million compared to what a player sold by Feyenoord would bring in. It has in my opinion everything to do with us not being champions and thus not playing CL football. It makes players more visible and judgeable on a top level. It also translates into sponsor deals.

Dirk Kuyt awarded testimonial at De Kuip
Dirk Kuyt will officially end his professional playing career on Sunday 27 May 2018. Twelve months after the 37-year-old netted three goals to help Feyenoord secure the Eredivisie title at De Kuip, the Katwijk-born Dutch international will make his farewell appearance at the same stadium in the Dirk Kuyt Testimonial.

    Three charities
The Dirk Kuyt Testimonial will feature a host of former teammates. More details will be announced in due course, but the programme will kick off at 2pm on Sunday 27 May. Dirk Kuyt has chosen three charities he would like to benefit from his testimonial: the Dirk Kuyt Foundation, the Feyenoord Foundation and Support Casper.

    Kuyt ‘honoured’
‘I am honoured to have something this great organised for me,’ said Kuyt, who will be inviting several former teammates from his time at FC Utrecht, Feyenoord, Liverpool, Fenerbahçe and the Dutch national team to play in his testimonial. ‘This match was discussed with Feyenoord during the talks on my return to Rotterdam. And now it’s really going to happen! It’s fantastic to be able to play in front of the Feyenoord legion at De Kuip again with lots of familiar faces from the past. I’m really looking forward to that day and I love it that I have the chance to bid farewell to my life as a professional footballer in this way. The three charities I feel passionate about make this extra special. Having these charities linked to the match lends extra lustre to the day.’

    Special occasion
It’s 35 years ago that a Feyenoord player was awarded a testimonial, which shows just how special the Dirk Kuyt Testimonial is. Club icon Willem van Hanegem was the last Feyenoord player to be given the honour of a testimonial back in 1983. On that occasion he lined up with his 1974 Dutch national side teammates against Feyenoord. Coen Moulijn was also awarded a testimonial. The Uruguay national side were the opponents in 1974.

    Tickets
Feyenoord season ticket holders will have priority access to tickets for the Dirk Kuyt Testimonial. Tickets go on sale at 11am CET on Saturday 31 March. All tickets will be available exclusively from the Feyenoord Ticketshop. Advance orders of a special Feyenoord edition of Jaap de Groot’s book about Dirk Kuyt’s ‘belief in success’ (out on 14 May) will also open at the same time. For full details about tickets and the advance sale of the book, see www.feyenoord.nl/kuyt.

    Impressive career
Dirk Kuyt’s final match in his sparkling 19-year career as a professional football player came on 14 May 2017, when Feyenoord beat Heracles 3-1 to win the Eredivisie title. The former striker started out at hometown club Quick Boys and made his professional debut for FC Utrecht in the 1998-1999 season. Five seasons later he moved to Feyenoord, where he topped the club scoring charts three seasons running.

In the summer of 2006 Kuyt made the switch to Liverpool, where he soon become a valuable player. After six years on Merseyside, he joined Fenerbahçe, staying in Istanbul for three seasons before returning to Rotterdam in the summer of 2015. With Feyenoord he won the KNVB Cup in 2016 and last season he crowned his career with the Eredivisie title. Dirk Kuyt also made 104 appearances for the Dutch national side between 2004 and 2014, including the 2010 World Cup final.

Global stars in action at the Dirk Kuyt Testimonial
Three special teams full of past and present greats of the game will be in action at the Dirk Kuyt Testimonial on Sunday 27 May. Now we can reveal more details of the programme.

Koeman back in the technical area
The two-hour football festival gets underway at 14:00 CET with a game between Feyenoord and the ‘Friends of Dirk’, a team comprising the best players Kuyt played with at Liverpool and Fenerbahçe. Ronald Koeman returns as Feyenoord coach.

In the second half of the game Koeman will fill his formation with players from various eras in the history of the club, including Patrick Lodewijks, Roy Makaay, Salomon Kalou, Lex Immers, Miquel Nelom, Jan-Arie van der Heijden, Rick Karsdorp, Jens Toornstra, Tonny Vilhena and Steven Berghuis.

    Feyenoord vs. former stars
Feyenoord kick off against the Liverpool side that made the final of the Champions League in 2005 and 2007, with a few special guests from Fenerbahçe. That team includes Jerzy Dudek, Steven Gerrard, Xabi Alonso, Jamie Carragher, Robbie Fowler and Craig Bellamy, alongside Cristian Baroni, Raul Meireles and Pierre Webo.

    Van Gaal to coach internationals
After the break the ‘Friends of Dirk’ will make way for the Orange XI, a side specially put together for the occasion. The forwards from the 2014 World Cup (Arjen Robben, Robin van Persie and Memphis Depay) are joined by such Dutch legends as Wesley Sneijder, Rafael van der Vaart, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Edwin van der Sar, Phillip Cocu and Ruud van Nistelrooij. This unique team will be led by former national coach Louis van Gaal.

Current players from the current Dutch national side will be special guests at De Kuip. As well as Depay, Ryan Babel, Eljero Elia and Terence Kongolo have been given special dispensation by Oranje coach Ronald Koeman to take part in the match.

    Surprises
The afternoon will also feature a host of surprises that Kuyt does not want to divulge. ‘I know for sure that no one will be bored,’ says Kuyt. ‘Too many special things are going to happen. The match with three exceptional teams is the main attraction, of course, but around that we constantly want to surprise the fans.’

One thing that is already certain is that special attention will be given to Feyenoord’s title win last year, particularly the decisive fixture against Heracles Almelo. ‘It is going to be a great football experience we want to bring as close to the crowd as possible by means of four specially installed screens,’ says Kuyt. ‘We all going to come together for a big party.’

    Come to De Kuip!
There are still around 9000 tickets available for his special afternoon of football. Like to be there? You can secure your tickets from the Feyenoord Ticket Shop. The proceeds from the Dirk Kuyt Testimonial will benefit the Dirk Kuyt Foundation, Feyenoord Foundation and Stichting Support Casper.

From rumours it seems like we see both Karim El Ahmadi and Vilhena make a move. Plus the more then likely moving of Nicolai to the EPL makes a little bit of action needed by Feyenoord, but sofar it is rather silent about targets and buys.
It seems almost a done deal that Kayserispor has a deal over the transfer of Bilal Basacikoglu.
I'm happy for him, as I really like the guy. He's a good, sympathatic person, but could have been one of the players that knocked down Ajax and loved for that reason.

Not a problem; if they can get cash for the last couple of seasons of their career take the money. My home club is getting close to signing Wayne Rooney for a huge amount of money. el Ahmadi might be a better signing for DC United than Rooney but he doesn't have the name recognition.

Not really, they just like superstars regardless of whether they are over the hill. Pirlo played here for a couple of years. The only player in his prime to come over was Giovinco who left Juventus for Toronto FC.

Yeah, when I saw that D.C. United were signing Rooney I figured that they want to continue to get the top choices in the college draft, like the NFL losers get. Time for new management at DCU.

Depay koopt penthouse van 2,5 miljoen euro in Rotterdamse woontoren
    [IMG]

    .

If I'm not mistaken it's the same building Madonna has a huge complete floor too costing several millions.
Edit: Madonna is in the Rotterdam building, while Memphis is in the Montevideo building

Feyenoord signed 16-year-old Jamie Dunning of FC Dallas to their academy's U17 side. I don't know anything about him but consider this a good move for the lad. USA needs some tougher players; thus, important to get them away from their soccer moms.

You may have posted about him already FSF, but I didn't see it until it was posted on another futbol website. I haven't been reading much here lately.

  22. Well, I did post about in the Yank Abroad Academy thread. Personally I'm not that interested in young players while they develop, given the fact most donot make it. So when they get a contract as a pro it's the time for me to pay attention while then they have to prove they're real talents. Before that it's youth coaches business.
