Just got done reading "Mercy Seat," and waiting for my copy of "The Distance From Here." Which is better - his films ("In the Company of Men," "Your Friends and Neighbors") or his plays ("Bash," "The Shape of Things")? Can't wait for the film of "Shape..." either. RS
I could not agree more. (Obviously, I'm not gonna go overboard and actually read something,) but god knows, the man makes great dialogue films. In The Company of Men is up there with Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolfe? as one of the best ever. And with Bash, I gotta say, anyone that can make Clarista Flockhart look stunningly brilliant, is a writing god in my book.
Flockhart as the single mother is so gut-wrentching, it's actually hard to watch. Incredible. I used to use the gay-bashing description in Bash as my monologue when I would go to auditions. I got a lot of bad looks. RS
