2 spots for the Sudamericana will come from the current CCC, Pachuca is already qualified as champion and the winner get disqualified. SO i was thinking in the next scenario. If Dynamo beats Pachuca and losses to Chivas: DInamo they qualifies. If Dynamo wins the Cup: Dynamo plays CWC instead. Now the interesting stuff: If Pachuca beats Dynamo and Chivas beats Pachuca: Chivas gets disqualified so that leaves to open spots... both DC and Dynamo qualify i guess. If Pachuca beats Dynamo and Pachuca beats Chivas: Chivas and (DC or Houston) qualifies.... Whats your take?
Re: Houston and the Sudamericana cup. Are you sure 2 teams from CCC will go to Sudamericana? I always thought it was one. If it is 2, there really is no way of knowing for sure the rules. I know in England, if a team wins the FA Cup (which automatically gets you a spot in Europe) and finishes in the top 6 (which also automatically gets you a spot in Europe) then the FA Cup runner up is eligible for Europe. CONCACAF could do something like that but who knows? Most leagues count away goals but CCC doesn't.
Re: Houston and the Sudamericana cup. That's a definite maybe. Could be interesting, provided CONCACAF does get two spots in Cupa Sudamerica. Dang, we may already be in. WOW
Re: Houston and the Sudamericana cup. You know... Sudamericana is in July, right? And CWC is in December, right? If the Dynamo wins the CCC, what's to say we don't get invited to both?
Re: Houston and the Sudamericana cup. Sudamericana could theoretically run till December. Regardless, I don't see Sudamericana giving an invite to MLS teams now that there's a way for them to qualify for it. I know DC United played in it relatively recently but they were invited and there wasn't a way for them to qualify for it (I don't think).
Re: Houston and the Sudamericana cup. This is confusing, yo. I know one way to qualify for SudaAmerica is to be runner-up in the CCC. What's the other way? I think I missed something there.
Re: Houston and the Sudamericana cup. Since this is concacaf we can always have last minute changes ( ) but last Year CF America played the CwC but no the Sudamericana cup. In fact, Pachuca was playing the Sudaemricana finals about the same time CF America was playing the CWC.
Re: Houston and the Sudamericana cup. I'll vote for winning the whole ********ing thing! Then we can go to Japan. The Lone Star State goes to the Land of the Rising Sun.
Re: Houston and the Sudamericana cup. I don't know what the "rules" are (I'm beginning to suspect some of them are made up as they go along just like here). But I figure if you guys win the whole thing, you go to the CWC and let us have the Sudamericana. So go win the whole thing, m'kay?
Re: Houston and the Sudamericana cup. It's also possible that the same team could go to both the FIFA World Club Cup and the Copa Sudamericana. Conmebol (the South American confed) decides who they invite to the Sudamericana and they don't have to pass up a team just because that team has also qualified for the FIFA WCC. It's their party and their rules.
Re: Houston and the Sudamericana cup. In other words, there's no defining rule yet as to how the 2nd North American spot is decided? They're just making it up as they go along? That sounds busted, yo. Sounds from some of the previous posts that they have a history of doing that, too.
Re: Houston and the Sudamericana cup. Well, I'm just saying that Conmebol is perfectly willing to adjust its rules - not a whole lot different in that regard from Concacaf.
Re: Houston and the Sudamericana cup. I just think it hurts SudAmerica's credibility when there aren't defined ways of qualifying for that tournament within the same year that they have it. Imagine how confused we'd be if there weren't a defined way of making the MLS playoffs at the beginning of the season. It just sounds disorganized for what's referred to as a big event.
Re: Houston and the Sudamericana cup. I'm pretty sure 3 teams from CONCACAF enter Copa Sudamericana, but it doesn't have to be three teams from this tournament, CCC. The runner-up from this cup will go, but the other two could be Club America and L.A. Galaxy, for example. In other words if we don't make it to the final theirs no guarantee we go to either S.A. or Japan. So, let's GO DYNAMO. I'll be happy going to either cup, which will be guaranteed by a win tomorrow. See ya'll at the Mezz.
Re: Houston and the Sudamericana cup. Linky Here's DCU's take on things. From what they normally do, this is how things work: the CCC winner goes to the CWC and nothing else. The runner up goes to the Copa Sud. Two other teams, not necesarily in the CCC, go to the Sud. Usually at least one of them go and another is invited. That is up to CONMENBOL though... At least, that's what I figure.
Re: Houston and the Sudamericana cup. I'd just disagree to the extent that the winner of the CCC could still also go to the Sudamericana. Conmebol can still invite them and arrange the schedule as they please.
Re: Houston and the Sudamericana cup. And therein lies the problem....they should just define who guys and leave it at that. It should be simple: Winner goes to Tokya. 2nd - 4th to Sud. But then, that would make sense and CONMENBOL can't do that?
Re: Houston and the Sudamericana cup. They like keeping their options open. Plus, it would require a lot of organization, which isn't always how they do things. They'll decide who they want in the tournament and then announce the criteria that fit.
Re: Houston and the Sudamericana cup. Actually, I think the SuperLiga qualification criteria - at least for MLS teams - have been announced for next year.
Re: Houston and the Sudamericana cup. That is until teams like these guys or these guys make it in......geeze.... Should be fun either way. With 2 US teams in the Top 4 at least, let's hope at least one of them makes it in.
Re: Houston and the Sudamericana cup. roflmao Damn...no way to properly reply to this without being way off topic.....where's the Rivalry Forums?
