Several people have suggested I get a Roku. One reason is that I could stream NBC Gold to my TV. So I went looking into this and I saw that Roku's NBC Gold app only shows cycling content, not EPL content? Can anyone corroborate this? I gotta hope that I got this wrong!
Yes you can get all Gold Prem programming within the Roku app https://channelstore.roku.com/details/93812/nbc-sports-gold
And I'm pretty sure all the Premier League Productions content is streamed live but quickly archived. So Premier League Review Show on demand
OK, so if the subscription year is more than half way finished, do they still charge full price ($50) for NBC GOLD?
BTW, I noticed that they also charge $30/yr for Cycling Pass. I've been an avid cycling fan over the years, and always able to watch key races via traditional TV channels like OSN or NBCSN, which have been part of my Sports & Entertainment Pack which currently costs $9/mo ($108/yr). And that Sports Pack also gives me all my footy channels of course: NBCSN, FSP, BEIN, etc, etc. So if NBC hooks me into their new GOLD packages, that's $80/yr for just EPL & Cycling alone. If I then decide to subscribe to ESPN's upcoming streaming service, which is rumored to be ~$5/mo ($60/yr), then I'll already be at $140, which is well above my old $108 Sports & Entertainment Pack. And that $140 would only be for 2 sports providers: NBC & ESPN. As other providers follow suit, one can imagine their anual Sports programming budget easily exceeding $200, probably more. This is one aspect where the impending world of fragmented streaming subscriptions could be bad for the customer, at least for his or her wallet. And also why I think the new market is ripe for wholesale aggregators who could potentially create bundles which not only save us money but also save time & hassle, through simplified single subscriptions. I pray that these people are thinking about things like this, rather than just salivating about how much money they can make in this new world of streaming.

You think along my line. Formula 1 used to be also free and the rumor is that they will make that also a streaming subscription. This whole thing it getting ridiculous and is making me look for other options such as an illegal $300 streaming box for which you only pay once but seem to be able to get all without no further monthly cost.

Yeah, if they get too greedy and the costs go up too sharply, I think quite a few people are going to seek out the illegal route. It's a shame. 5-10 years ago, in order to follow our teams we spent much more time on pirated streams. Then the providers like NBC & ESPN offered legit streaming, as long as you already subscribed to them in your cable tv plan. Now as they look to add significant & fragmented fees for all this coverage, it's going to force a lot of people back into the nefarious world. And I don't think people really want to do this. I know I don't. But if the cost gets too high, and you really want to follow the same sports/teams as you've been doing, then you're going to reconsider your options.
I pay quite a bit to Directv, and there's not much point in doing that if the games I want (Man Utd) aren't shown. All these fragmented costs make the big purchases not worthwhile.

I really like the fact that NBC has decided to cross promote the World Cup on Telemundo during Premiere League matches on NBCSN. Not only the dramatic promos they do with a montage of the Premiere League players who will play in the World Cup but also simple things like putting a graphic on the bottom of the screen before the Arsenal- Liverpool match that distinctly says the World Cup will be on Telemundo. Things like that are probably just "meh" to people around here but I think it is huge. Your average Joe soccer fan probably still thinks Univision still has the rights. Heck, passionate Premiere League fans who have been following their club for years probably do not know that Telemundo has the World Cup rights. This gets the word out in a great way that there is a new home for the World Cup. This is also a good way to get an audience that may not like FOX at all to just tune in and see that the production is a bit similar to what they have seen aesthetically on NBC.
