Thought i remember seeing the callup list, but i guess it wasnt put. Or even if it was, let's just put it here for reference of the NT El listado es el siguiente: C.D. Águila Benji Villalobos Henry Romero Ibsen Castro C.D. FAS Alexander Mendoza C.D. Dragón Henry Hernández A.D. Isidro Metapán José Ángel Peña Alianza F.C. Óscar Cerén Herbert Sosa Óscar Arroyo Rodolfo Zelaya Alexander Larín Santa Tecla F.C. Roberto Domínguez Iván Mancía Juan Barahona Bryan Tamacas Gerson Mayén Marlon Cornejo Cosmos (USA) Andrés Flores San José (USA) Darwin Cerén Rayo OKC (USA) Richard Menjivar Municipal (Guatemala) Jaime Alas Saint Louis (USA) Irvin Herrera IBVVestmannaaeyjar (Islandia) Pablo Punyed Initial callup. Started practicing yesterday, looks to be the final list give or take some. Henry Hernandez isnt in camp, as he is in Iran trailing. In his place they called the u20 GK mario martinez Mancia is sidelined with an injury, they dont know if he will be available for the UNCAF. In his place they have called up Oscar Menjivar from the u20. Sidenote question: is Tamacas in camp, or is he in Uruguag for Boston to try to get intk the team?
Bonilla made the list for the tournament. Wish he hadnt because 1. Means his new coach must not think highly of him in his plans clubside 2. Wanted Zelaya to get a heavy dose of action to see if he's once and for all the Zelaya of 2009-11 or if it's time to let that ghost go and give Herrera/Pena the reigns. Now Bonilla knocks Pena off list and figures to play more mins and for this type of tournament its not neccessary.
Arqueros: Benji Villlalobos (Águila), Óscar Arroyo (Alianza) y Henry Hernández. Defensas: Henry Romero (Águila), Ibsen Castro (Águila), Iván Mancía (Santa Tecla), Juan Barahona (Santa Tecla), Roberto Dominguez (Santa Tecla), Brayan Tamacas (Santa Tecla), Óscar Menjívar (UES) y Alexander Larín (Alianza). Volantes: Andrés Flores, Jaime Alas (Municipal/Guatemala), Darwin Cerén (San José/USA), Herbert Sosa (Alianza), Pablo Punyed (ÍBV/Islandia), Richard Menjívar (Rayo/USA), Gersón Mayén (Santa Tecla), Óscar Cerén (Alianza) y Raúl Renderos (FAS). Delanteros: Irving Herrera (San Louis/USA), Nelson Bonilla (Nacional/Portugal) y Rodolfo Zelaya (Alianza). Final list. Tbh, wish Bonilla stayed at his club to get game time. Want him to succeed in Portugal and open doors for other players. Dont like the fact Henry was called up after leaving for a ONE DAY TRYOUT (what a joke). Wish Pena was on the list. Wouldve left either Irving or Oscar Memjivar out. But glad to see the youngster in the list, so Ill take that one.
Actually cannot complain about the list except maybe getting rid of Richard Menjivar and Herny Hernandez but a more positive call up. I do like Lara wants to win this tournament or at least finish second. But he will be up against history (El salvador has never won The Copa Centramericana and the ebst position has been third, not even coaches like omar Pastoriza, Carlos de la Cobos, Ruben Israel and Albert Roca could do it), and also he will comptiting who are my gelled and better prepared then our team (like Costa Rica, Honduras , Panama and Nicaragua)
Yeah, Menjivar is not above the likes of Echeverria or Orellana. Orellana has sadly been removed from the NT picture, hopefully he can find his footing again. I did mention Hernandez though, felt they shouldve kept Mario.
Starting XI A few players are serving suspensions so we will probably see a different line-up next game pending on today's performance. Meanwhile Honduras currently leads Nicaragua 2-1.
The best chance and he flubs it. This feels like the game in Houston where we had chances and the Ticos ended up scoring first. Nelson showing why he's coming off the bench...
Correction Nelson Bonilla wastes a clear shot on goal min 26. But our offense is showing fluid movement thus far
Oscar has had a good showing so far. Not much from Fito. Nelson is okay outside of that missed opportunity, Mayen has been okay.
So far what's worried me about the team is the speed of the midfield isn't that great. Also kind of annoying that Fito tries to much to draw calls.
