I'm gutted. Frankly the loss of Aguirre hurts me way more than the early exit at Asian Cup.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: He was much better than Zaccheroni.

It will be hard to get a manager who meets the following criteria.
    a) decent experience in the top European leagues.
    b) decent experience as national team manager.
    c) not a forgotten manager. (Zaccheroni was considered a Serie A reject)

I think they are going to go down the local route....and this is probably more because of the fact that the WC and AC are so far away now.....gives a local coach time to bed in during qualifiers. I guess first real test would be EAFF Championship and if struggle then replaced by another foriegner.

Japan will recruit a foreigner, they will never allow a local coach to come on board.

I am sure they will acquire a very talented European coach!. Its Japan guys, the best team in asia (playing style wise) results didnt go their way, but surely have some of the most talented players..

    Won't they? Takeshi Okada?
If if's a foreigner it will be someone who knows Japan, it won't be someone out the blue like the two previous choices.

    good point,
Japan do want someone with experience with Japanese football.

However, given the sheer quality and stature of the Japanese football, I wont rule out a big name signing (with limited Japanese footballing experience) to be announced.

Bahrain to hire former Argentina coach Baptista

Bahrain are set to appoint Sergio Batista as their new head coach for the next two years after successful negotiations, Al Bawaba reported on Friday.

The 52-year-old tactician was reportedly the Al-Ahmar’s first choice to replace current coach Marjan Eid following the country’s disappointing Asian Cup performance last January.

The Argentinian most recently managed Shanghai Shenhua in the 2014 Chinese Super League, but did not renew following the conclusion of his contract.

"Batista, who led Argentina to Olympic gold at the 2008 Games in Beijing, is expected to take charge immediately ahead of joint qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup and 2019 Asian Cup. Bahrain, who have yet to qualify for a World Cup tournament, are grouped with Uzbekistan, Philippines, North Korea, and Yemen in what has been dubbed the “Group of Death” by some observers."
