i did not log on for a while so i didn't see it earlier. i'm just glad you're feeling better, i was really concerned for you health and well being when i read that!
Cosmos create reserve team that will join the NPSL in 2015 http://www.twiceacosmo.com/2015/1/1...-reserve-team-that-will-join-the-npsl-in-2015 "This is a key step for us in terms of our player development plans. The creation of New York Cosmos B to play in the NPSL provides us with the flexibility and a structured development path for our reserve players to flourish."
And now so are the Rowdies. http://www.rowdiessoccer.com/news/2...es-2-joins-the-national-premier-soccer-league
A couple weeks old now, but the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers are as well: http://www.strikers.com/news/2015/12/09/strikers-to-field-npsl-team
Does Atlanta still have the Silvebacks Reserves? Also, Minnesota United FC reserves are in NPSL if I am not mistaken.
Yes, they do. They took a hiatus a few years ago but they were back in the NPSL last year. Atlanta Silverbacks NY Cosmos Carolina RailHawks Indy Eleven Fort Lauderdale Strikers Tampa Bay Rowdies

And one less....Minnesota moves their Reserves team to the PLA (formerly Great Lakes Premier League): http://www.pla-soccer.com/minnesota-united-moves-from-npsl-to-pla/
I wonder if that has anything to do with their move to MLS? I may be wrong but it seems like a lot of MLS teams moved their reserve/youth teams out of the NPSL once the NASL started forming a relationship there.
There were never that many MLS teams in the NPSL were there? The Chicago Fire had an NPSL team from 2008 to 2011 but they've had a PDL team from 2001 to the present. The Red Bulls were in the NPSL from 2010 to 2014 and then switched last year to the PDL. DC United had an NPSL team from 2013-2014 and then they switched to the PDL. Anyone else? Not much of a pattern there other than NY and DC switching.
So, what you're saying is that very few MLS teams moved their reserve teams out of the NPSL once the NASL started a relationship with them?
Not sure, I'm not sure how many MLS teams fielded a reserve team in the NPSL just seem to remember all of them moving or terminating the team.
Add Jacksonville to the list of NASL teams with a NPSL side...creatively named Armada U-23: http://www.npsl.com/news_article/show/610479?referrer_id=2168389
While I'm glad NASL teams are fielding reserve teams in NPSL, this does nothing towards pro/rel which is the real relationship that the NASL has spun and NPSL desperately wants. If anything the NASL treating the NPSL like how the MLS treats the USL just further eliminates the idea of pro/rel between thee leagues.
Currently pro/rel is not really even worth discussion as anything but a long term goal. To have pro/rel means you have enough teams to implement it, and the NASL does not. As well the NASL is not going to have a pro/rel with an amateur league, at least not directly. If they do actually want to do pro/rel I would suggest building a three way relationship between them, NPSL, and ASL (or similar league). Implement some kind of pro/rel with the ASL in order to help it grow into the professional regional league it wants to be, then once it and the NASL has reached their size goals then try pro/rel between the ASL and NASL. Personally though the only pro/rel I want to ever see is promotion to the playoffs, and relegation out of the playoffs.
If your hopes for this thread our tied to just the NPSL being a reserve side then you will not be disappointed. Otherwise it's not the thread your looking for.
So I saw Miami united FC sign Adriano and it got me thinking. If there is a bunch of NPSL teams who are paying players (similar to the USL-PDL-pro distinction) they could combine with the NASL reserve sides in an extended season. Not a new league per se, but just an extended 'playoffs' amongst them that carries on into September/October. I'm just wondering on how many teams that would actually be. Maybe if NPSL upped their standards similar to where PDL pro teams are, then there could be a full season D4 with NPSL+PDL teams that could potentially become a D3 one day...
