if the nasl gets going next year . Would you consider this years nasl confernce champion as the first nasl champion
No, first because it's not a real league yet, and also Rochester, Minnesota and Tampa Bay are playing in the "USL" conference, and they are all aligned with the NASL moving forward.
I'll consider whichever team wins the first NASL championship to be the first NASL champion. It's not even a league yet, for crying out loud.
Hard to be champion of something that doesn't yet exist as its own entity. BUT, if an NASL team wins D-2 this year, I suppose you could tout them as the defending D-2 champions.
That's sorta how I feel. ...I can't imagine the team marketing not involving the phrase "defending NASL champions," but I see us as conference champions hoping to win the league rather than as league champions for a league that doesn't even exist yet.
Yeah. Of course, now that we're (slightly) favored to go all the way, it's hopefully a moot point - after all, nobody's denying Montreal "defending champions" status this year.
They're the highest remaining seed. It's not rocket science, I'm not sure why you're confused by the statement.
Puerto Rico beat Rochester, and Montreal beat Austin. So unless Portland beats Vancouver, Carolina has the best record of any team in the semifinals; Vancouver's up two goals after the first leg of that series, though, so Portland's got a tough row to hoe.
It's not rocket science, it doesn't make your favorite for one seconds. All right, you finished 2nd in regular season, so? There's a lot of factors to take in consideration. Anyway, Carolina will be a strong opponent, we'll have to make a good performance thursday. I actually like our chance to make it to the final. gl
Actually we finished fourth in regular season; we've only got the second seed because of the conference alignment resulting from the crazy NASL/USL compromise. As for other factors? What, exactly? The fact that we were in the hardest travel group (along with Montreal), so both teams get to claim their record was against a tough schedule? The fact that we've been doing better in the second half of the season than the first, so our odds pick up when you decide you're going to pay more attention to the most recent results? That we're fresh off a 4-0 win and hungry for our first-ever title? Montreal's a fine team. There's no denying it. This year, Carolina's been playing a bit better; any useful way you try to quantify which team has the better shot, it's us... but not by very much. RailHawks fans have every reason to worry that Sunday's game will be the end of our season. Gonna be an exciting pair of games.
Experience, injuries, recent forme, etc etc etc etc etc etc. Yes, it's gonna be exciting. Can't wait, I'll have a long week.
It should be an awesome series.. Carolina-Montreal games have been some of my favorite the last 2 years, there always seems to be quite a bit of animosity between the 2 sides. Should be a good coaching battle between Dos Santos and Rennie.
We are the NASL champs and I have the t-shirt to prove it along with 1000 or so other fans that paid $15 each. Do you have a t-shirt? If not then zip it .
