1542 for the Rowdies at the Islanders

What is happening to the PR crowds lately? The other years they had better attendances

And from next season on, they will even have a 2nd franchise in PR

Well, they've always done better later in the season.

And the FC Edmonton has a 1 million dollar payroll this season, I did not know that owning a soccer team was such a pretty expensive hobby

I didn't know that the PDL had such horrible attendance.

    Also...ONE MILLION DOLLAR PAYROLL?!

    20 players + 4 coaches = 24 people = average salary of $42,000

Kenn brought that up, and normally he is a lot better informed than we are. It seems like a lot of money to me, especially in a market where even the glorious Aviators only lasted a few months

I saw the mentioning of the repeated failures up there...but I don't know anything about it.

I just can't imagine these D2 guys making half what the MLS players do.

Consider hockey...AAA hockey players make $75,000/year.

NHL hockey players make a minimum of $450,000/year.

That's 17% of the major league salary.

The high paid (non-Euro types) make what...$150,000?

Div 2 players might be paid too highly.

Failures were the 1. Edmonton Drillers of the original NASL, 2. Edmonton Brickmen of the APSL and 3. Edmonton Aviators of the A-League

The Brickmen played in the Western Soccer Alliance in 1985, averaged 3-4k a year. They did not fail in that league, they chose to move to the upstart CSL. They did not play in the APSL.

The Aviators failed in Edmonton for numerous reasons that have been mentioned before.

As a laugh, when I searched to back up my facts I found this site has used my video capture of the Brickmen on their page.

Its quite possible...The Impact has a payroll of about 1.5 million with the highest paid players making about 100K a year.

Players make a lot less than that. The average USL 1 player makes $600 every 4 weeks or so from the club during the season. They make a bit more from coaching, camps etc but they are not paid that kind of money. Not in NC at least.

Very interesting CP Baltimore drew twice of what they usually do while playing at Calvert Hall's Field (a private high school in Towson, Md.). While it's a high school, the field is a lot nicer than UMBC's. I hope the team continues to play there and gets attendance up to around 3K for the remaining games. We don't need another Miami!

My guess at the game was around 2K, but they're probably playing around with the tickets sold vs. actual butts in seats numbers.

The horrible heat and the draining US loss probably led some ticket holders to stay home, but they get counted anyway. (Remember that rainy Rochester game thousands of invisible fans in the attendance number?)

Considering the state of some of us that actually did make it to the game, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a fair number of fans that were physically unable to make the game.
