I just saw that. But judging by what I saw during the SRFC friendly, Periscope is a lousy way to watch a soccer game.
Must be. I can't fault a league for not having multiple downloadable schedule options for Google Cal, iCal, etc... Maybe I'm getting old. I still enter in the games I'm going to manually. Or put a pocket calendar on my wall.
So NCFC has 3 jersey sponsors. NASL teams taking inspiration from Central and South America. We’re proud to announce our 2017 NCFC kit, with sponsors @CircleKStores @continentaltire and @AdvanceAuto #NCFCFam #WelcometotheFamily pic.twitter.com/jfAhUw7f9B— North Carolina FC 🏆 (@NorthCarolinaFC) March 20, 2017
So we're now complaining about teams generating revenue other than gouging their fans? Edit: typo not->now
Ugh. New Cosmos owner dives right back into the same cesspool the old owners hung out in. http://www.frontrowsoccer.com/2017/...s-salvos-mls-u-s-soccers-way-among-criticism/
And people wonder why I want NASL, and the Cosmos in particular, to just die... They're a breeding ground for these knuckleheads. This is not 1978. Their "brand" isn't worth squat. And if he's bashing the "environment" at Yankee Stadium, what does he think it's going to be like at his Low-A artificial turf ballpark in Coney Island?
Hmm, he must have not paid attention to the '02 World Cup or the fact Atlanta seems to be doing just fine in MLS. But I won't let facts derail his agenda.
So many errors and inaccurate comments. Even First Row Soccer which is sympathetic to the NASL and minors even has to correct them in their report. My fav parts are where Commisso mentions the reasons pro soccer is failing in the US. Huh?
Pro soccer is failing in the US because the Cosmos have been failing, DUH! Seriously though this and apparent lack of interest in the Deltas from locals has me concerned about the NASL at the moment.
...and it might by why Commisso decided to do this. Season starting, things looking as questionable as ever....start talking like an old school Coney Island barker. It didn't work just recently with more money behind it, but it will now? I get trying to rally the hardcores and radicals, but even they have to feel deflated/let down at this point after what we just went through. Many of them, except the most deluded/unstable, have to be questioning this new Cosmos. I'm not sure how you appeal to the middle ground fans by doing this again. How could I trust this guy? Seems ripe for another let down. This isn't CEO speak, or over exuberance.......it is moronic. His factual errors/lies are impossible to be rationalized/ignored by even the most devoted NASL/Cosmos followers. Just wow.
Locals have been telling everyone from the day they were announced that the SF Deltas were doomed. They're playing in a stadium with a history of chewing up and spitting out minor league teams in a city that has a history of chewing up and spitting out minor league teams. No one listened of course because what do locals know! This is the NASL we're talking about!
That's pretty much the raison d'être for this web site. Nothing more entertaining as people living hundreds (if not thousands) of miles away knowing what's better in any given situation than people in the local area. All you have to do is toss in a "if they do it right" every now and then, and you've made your bones as an expert.
Who are these people that didn't believe the Deltas were doomed? Aside from NASL and pro/rel activists.
The owners from the Delta's have stated that they want to start slowly and build from there but I think they quoted something around 3 to 4K to start. I'm concerned they're going to get WAY less then that and not have the resources or wherewithal to do what they want to do to gain traction. If SF fails after 2 seasons I don't see the league surviving. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if they struggle a la FTL and NC and Indy decide to leave after this season.
Well we'll find out soon. But I'd say 4k is an optimistic estimate for their season opener based on their first preseason game. Their average will be under 3k for sure. And if Kezar stays true to form, that number will decline all year long. They have to come out the gate swinging if they hope to survive. The "building" should already have occurred.
I don't understand why they can't just be fine with being a D2 league. The new commissioner and the new Cosmos owners are making the same type of comments that sent Ottawa and Tampa to the USL and almost cost the league its life. New people, same mistakes.
Actually what sent Ottawa to the USL was because they couldn't afford all of the fees the league was asking for for stuff like national TV deal, and keeping teams afloat because of bad owners. The Rowdies left because the NASL was not willing to break the USSF D2 sanctioning rules that multiple teams in the same league cannot be owned and managed by the same owner.
