I have thoroughly enjoyed the six episodes I have watched on the efforts of the DEA in league with the Colombian government to capture Pablo Escobar. It's well acted and of course the story is just fascinating and amazing. Truth being more bizarre and interesting than fiction. http://www.hitfix.com/whats-alan-wa...s-narcos-takes-on-the-legend-of-pablo-escobar
I'm only four episodes in so far, but I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Agreed on the acting, it's really well done as is the writing.
Saw an ad for this for the first time this afternoon, don't know where I've been. I've seen the "Two Escobars" 30 for 30, which was nice, but I suspect this will be better.
I've watched the first eight and I am bummed that it is almost over. This has been a fantastic series!!!
I watched 3 in a row last night, that's 7 for me now. I had read in a couple places about a second season, but haven't seen anything official yet. Does anyone know the name of the song that the mariachi band was playing when the met cockaroach for the first time?
Find it to be an okay series, don't much like the voice over narration. I plan to finish it but still think Escobar, el Patrón del Mal to be a far better and more indepth series on Escobar, how evil he was, the impact he had on the country, and the struggle Colombia had at defeating him. The series can be found on Netflix and even some of the actors from it are in Narcos, which is odd since they are playing different characters.
I finished Narcos last night, and loved it. I actually like that they have the voice over narration, it allows them to give a lot of information without having to show it, and it also acts as a bridge for people who are not fans of reading a lot of subtitles. For me the subtitles don't bother me, but I know some people who are reluctant to watch it because it it.
It kills me how lazy and what little effort people are willing to expend. Some of the best and most fascinating dialog comes through subtitles. Narcos was fantastic.
Narcos was much better than that telenovela. The novela is not bad, but it also has some of the worse musical soundtrack along with thoroughly cringeworthy music for dramatic high points I have had the misfortune of listening to. I would expect a more in-depth coverage given its 74 one hour episodes, but longer is not always better.
As a non-Spanish speaker, I'll say I'm glad it's in subtitles. I can't take shows or films seriously if it's not in the language it's supposed to be in. Hopefully my Spanish gets better in the process. I tried watching a House of Saddam episode on Netflix recently and turned it off after a couple minutes because I couldn't get past all the people speaking English to each other.
I enjoyed Narcos quite a bit, then again, I may be slightly biased as the director and actor who's playing Escobar are Brazilian.
Just 2 episodes in and enjoying it…I will cop to being in the lazy camp regarding subtitles…typically a big turn off for me…but the quality of the show has so far offset my normal aversions....
It's an entertaining show, but I wouldn't count it amongst the "great dramas" of the past decade. Also, of the decent shows I have enjoyed, this might be the one with the weakest lead. Thankfully, the show isn't really about him.
I guess this will only be a factor to Spanish-speaking people, but apparently the accents are all over the place? Which would make sense, since the cast is an eclectic mix of Hispanic-Americans, Mexicans and South-Americans.
I would agree in terms of all of the Colombian/South-American characters. But the guy playing Murphy is really, really weak. Thankfully his partner Pedro Pascal has almost enough charisma for the both of them.
The show has longevity because organizations adapt and evolve, when one goes down another one ascends as the top dog
Anyone watch Season 3 yet? I finished it last night and thought that it was really well done, they did an excellent job. Now the 1 year wait for season 4.
i will finish episode 10 when i get back home from work in 10 hours. I'm really loving it. I kinda like that they got rid of Murphy
