Decided to make a thread on our preseason games leading up to the season. First game we already played Benevento on July 13th at Dimaro and lost 2-1. Icardi and James raise our international reputation but will come with huge wages.. Pepe and Lozano can still get a lot better, have a very high sell on value, lower wages than the alternatives and still make the team a lot better. I am not against Lozano or Pepe, but these options will show us where we are at right now. For me bringing in Icardi and James means we are in a win now no matter what, bringing in Lozano or Pepe means we are strengthening but not risking it all with crazy wages
Crazy wages? They will dominate the league and are young as well. If anything I think they guarantee a high sell value later. Pepe is a gamble imo, Lozano is a good player but we have insigne
The most important player for us is icardi, not only do we get a quality st who is a winner but we also rob Juventus the chance to get him
I agree. My ideal is one of Lozano, Pepe or James. But definitely Icardi. We need a world class striker. Icardi is young and proven.
They aren't "young" like the other ones (they are ofcourse not old) but they are definitely approaching their prime - Icardi turns 27 in February and James is 28 and therefore neither will probably be able to sell more than what we buy them for as they'd likely be around for at least 2-3 years minimum. Pepe by comparison has just turned 24 and Lozano has just turned 23. Nicholas Pepe's wage demands are sitting from 2.5-4.5m. Icardi is demanding 8-10m. Lozano would probably be on 2-3m while James would be on 5-8m. I don't agree with the price for Nicholas Pepe, 80mil is ridiculous, but if you look at it as Ounas(20m), Verdi (25m) and then paying 35m it looks a lot better

Meret made the best save I've ever seen from a napoli gk. Mertens runs smartly, but needs to score. Milik is still shit despite the goal. If icardi had played we would have scored more. Hysaj needs to leave he is awful. The reff let us off from at least 2 clear yellows. Verdi was good. Younes walked passed them in midfield, they couldn't stop him. Ghoulam is almost back.
