My point was, people keep saying Miami should be named Inter Miami, because its an international city, or Atletico because it has a large Hispanic population, yet none of the cities I named are named Inter just because they are an international city and have huge non Caucasian English speaking populations. At least the NY Cosmos was original about it and used a name that was more in line with giving the club a name. Generic names are over used. And at least the Miami Fusion were creative. Heck Toros and Gatos was more creative than Inter or Atletico.
Never heard of Interama. But it sounds lame. Everyone who wants Inter wants it because of it being short for Internacional/International., like Inter Milan.
Interama was a proposed full time exposition of the Americas that was to be built in Miami where FIU north is today. Worth a google.
Even mild LDS references are avoided in Utah sports. Many of those who are not Mormons would take offense at exclusion. While "Deseret" probably wouldn't, some nicknames could have Mormons take offense at something religious being treated lightly. The fear that a Spanish name for Miami's team would turn off Anglos is a milder form of the same kind of concern.
How about this .... For names? English: athletic International Club of Miami Spanish: Club Atletico Internacional De Miami
