Interesting. Did I read that correctly that the $ would be around 5x more than what Celtic offered? Seems a bit much.
is the 5x figure the transfer fee? Because i think it makes sense since a dollar is worth like 6/7 norwegian kroner. Though i could be thinking of sweden the taxes are gonna be killer
1 krone is 12 cents so 20 million Krones is about $2.4 million. Personally, I don't believe there's anything to this rumor. For one, their facts don't seem like they were researched at all. It sounds like they're just trying to stir up some interest.
I think you read it incorrectly, that figure must be in Danish Krone. One Danish Krone is worth 0.11 GB£ or 0.14 US$ so the figure suggested is less than the £3m transfer fee Celtic supposedly offered.
So Celtic can't land Nagbe but a much much smaller club with far less money can land Nagbe a month later? I don't see it..... I can't understand it at all really but things aren't always so black/white.
Looking at their roster I think that they are seriously overshooting. I don't see how they can think to claim to offer anything better than Portland.
kind of comes up here occasionally, but in Europe aren't salary contract figures usually reported as post-tax numbers?
Problem with a club like Rosenborg is it's a level which would still allow Nagbe to coast as he does in Portland. At least with Celtic he'd have to battle in training every day in order to play, never mind the fan pressure is far greater and there'd be UCL. Rosenborg wouldn't be about attempting to improve and a step up in quality. It would be more about lifestyle experience. Celtic is a clear upgrade from Portland. Rosenborg IMO is a downgrade when looking clubs vs clubs.
I don't think that Celtic was his last chance but I honestly don't believe he wants to leave Portland as long as Porter is the coach.
He seemed pretty open to it this past summer, but I don't think Celtic wanted to pay Portland's asking price. He pretty much said he would be happy either way in an interview a few months back.
Nagbe's older than all the guys mentioned and somewhat established with life and the national team. Celtic would be sort of a speculative move for him, so I can see why it's not a priority.
