I disagree with you. Japan is certainly more advanced nation in economics and financial market. That's common sense. Japan is one of the leading economic power in the world while Korea is not. Forf automobile, Japanese automobile is surely more advanced than Korean cars. Not even a single Korean person in here denies that. Korea was better than Japan in 98, 2002, and 2006. As for football, on the other hands, Korea is more advanced than Japan. In every world cup, Korea has shown better team than Japan. In 98 France, Korea managed 1 draw and 2 loss, while Japan manage 3 loss. Though Korea was horribly defeated by Netherlands in 1998, Korea was a better team than Japan in 1998 because Korea had a draw while Japan had 3 straight loss. In 2002, Korea reached in the semi, while Japan even failed to go to quarter-final. In 2006, Korea had 1 win 1 draw and 1 loss while Japan had 1 draw and 2 loss PS: In 98, Korea was defeated by Netherlands in 1998 with 5-0. But Japan was also horribly defeated by FRANCE 5-0 in the year of 2000 in a friendly game as well. Japanese players cried a lot after the defeat. Your soccer has never done anything without the cheating in WC02. After the creation of the J-League Asian Cup - Japan won 3 times, Korea hasn't even reached the final. Confederations Cup - Japan finished Runners-up in 2001. Korea.... Japan started to take soccer seriously in 1993 and then they won 3 Asian Cups. (Korea couldn't won any cups). I think Koreans can't beat Japan because basically they are inferior to Japanese people. Come on guys. let's just keep this simple. I live in Kobe, Japan, and I support (sadly) Vissel Kobe in the core group. We have a Korean guy who, although he as spent a lot of time here and doesn't even count towards our foreign players quota, looks like his heritage comes out in his play. He dives. Oh Lord does this man dive. You had it right when you said that the Korean NT looks like Italians but without the skill (or the intense hand gestures). The Japanese like to do it, but only to the extent that you'll scream at them at the stadium. Most of the time when you watch a replay you can (kinda) understand it. One of Japan's main weaknesses that you failed to mention is the atrocious officiating. I'm not sure if you were only talking about the NT level, but on the domestic league level, refs are shit. The kind that you crap out after a good night out on the piss and fill your whole appartment with a stench that makes you want to jump out of a window. Until this is somewhat remedied, the J League won't hold a lot of international credibility. Is it the same in Korea? Another problem is the mass hysteria of a few teams leaving most without much support at all. Let's look at the Urawa Reds. Their town - not city - has a small, mostly rural population. It sure isn't a tourist destination, and on the 10 to 15 minute walk from the station to the stadium, it's pure frogs and farms. This is the most supported team in the country which easily pulls 50 thousand per game. Compare that with Kobe, a city of over a million, not a huge tourist destination, but definitely more than Urawa. Our club struggles to pull in 10 thousand per game. People in Japan see that there are a lot of people at Urawa games and figure that it's the "cool" thing to do, so they jump right on the bandwagon all around the country. Again, is it the same on your side of the strait?
