Foreign gigs is where it's at. Rudy doing it & not registering as a foreign agent with the Feds although he's advising Trump. https://www.axios.com/rudy-giuliani...cts-86e06efe-cdd5-436e-bcff-b30d15dffcab.html
Manfort's client list is rather unique to say the least given some of the people he worked for. Coincidentally, he did work for an Angolan warlord.
The Onion is always brilliant if not a little dark at times. Clickhole on the other hand, I love the absurdity.
BEEP-BEEP! The Rick Gates express has left the station. BREAKING: Rick Gates says he and Paul Manafort didn't report 15 foreign accounts and knew it was illegal https://t.co/Jw1hoCLeYC pic.twitter.com/2Y5YZRCRKy— CNN Politics (@CNNPolitics) August 6, 2018
Bingo!!! This seems important https://t.co/xH9p3JzEGH pic.twitter.com/cS41ufZPEa— Robert Maguire (@RobertMaguire_) August 7, 2018
My first reaction was "Is Manafort doing the douchy no socks with a suit look in court?!?" Then again he owns an ostrich hoodie.....
Rick Gates testifies that Paul Manafort recommended a banker who allegedly loaned him money under false pretenses be nominated as President Trump's Army secretary. Calk had been named to Trump's Economic Advisory Council in August 2016. https://t.co/cpiqTZvx7E— Julia Davis (@JuliaDavisNews) August 7, 2018
Isn’t it Sochi Vice? I can see a Kiev CSI, where the detectives find that, the guy that fell into the railroad tracks with his hands tied behind him, committed suicide...
They saved the best line of the Onion article for last: "Manafort’s defense called up their next witness, a trembling former intern who insisted his boss was a great guy who never once threatened to break his ********ing legs so bad he’d be walking sideways the rest of his life."
A while back I wrote that I'm getting a Judge Ito vibe from the judge in the Manafort trial. https://talkingpointsmemo.com/livew...ase-has-shown-extraordinary-bias-against-govt "“I’m not happy with this judge,” Napolitano told Fox News’ Dana Perino. “He’s making too much of the case about him and he’s showing an extraordinary bias against the government. If you feel that negatively about the government, you shouldn’t be on the case, or you have to keep those feelings to yourself not manifest them.”" Me and a Fox pundit in agreement. That's weird.
Judge Andrew has said a few not-so-Trumpian things lately. I thought that all the hahr spray had permanently damaged him but maybe not.
To follow up on this. The judge is reading his reviews and has decided to reinterpret his portrayal of The Judge in the play. https://talkingpointsmemo.com/muckr...e-his-criticism-of-manafort-trial-prosecutors "After being chastised repeatedly by U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis in front of the jury during Paul Manafort’s ongoing trial in Virginia, the prosecutors arguing the case appear to have had enough. On Thursday, they filed a court filing taking issue with Ellis’s outburst over a government witness who had watched the full trial before being called to the stand. Ellis told the jury Thursday morning to “put aside any criticism” of the prosecutors. “I sometimes make mistakes,” Ellis said." One of the incidents came when the judge blew up at the prosecutors over a witness having been in the courtroom during previous testimony. The judge had allowed it, and the prosecutors said something like, I think the transcript will bear us out. The judge was like, I don't care what the transcript says. That's what he apologized for today. The reporting suggests he was about as forthright as Bruce Arena after the loss in T&T. What an a-hole.
Judge Napolitano may be somewhat Libertarian (I am sure the Libertarians here will disagree) and he is very strict constitutionalist,, but he is not afraid to call it as he sees it, he has ripped on Trump and his defense team (at least on clips that I have seem) when he thinks they are wrong.
Does it make sense for the defendant yo not call any witnesses? Breaking: Paul Manafort's team will not present a case nor call any witnesses in his defense. The defense rested at 11:53 am— Jim Sciutto (@jimsciutto) August 14, 2018 Asking for a fried...
Mueller likely left a lot of things un-charged, leaving them for the State of New York or some other state. Manafort's not getting out of a prison sentence-- just may not be a federal one.
So does NY or VA pick it up at the state level? Bonus pts for guessing Trump's tweet announcing it: "Paul Manafort is a great guy/American who was unfairly prosecuted by 17 Democrats and Robert Mueller. Sad! For this reason I grant Paul a full and unconditional pardon."
Not a lawyer....but my wife has had Law and Order on continuous loop for a decade and a half.... Either hoping for a pardon or planning on making an offer to spill it all between conviction and sentencing hoping for a reduced sentence. Gotta say...the bank fraud charges are kinda weak....considering the CEO of the bank itself pushed for the loan application to be approved.
