When I was a fundamentalist Christian, we despised Mormons and considered them a cultic offshoot of Christianity. We felt that Mormons were sincere, but sincerely deluded. My childhood pastor was John Gimenez. If you're a US citizen, you should know who he was.
No. Mormons have heretical beliefs about Jesus and God. Say what you will about fundies, they don't. They're in the tent. Mormons, God bless 'em, are no more in the tent than Jews or Muslims.
Heretical according to whom exactly? I'm pretty sure the Catholics didn't consider the Protestants to be "in the tent" for a good long while after their breakaway. Do the Mormons consider themselves Christian (I honestly don't know)?
Yes they do. They believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ. That's pretty much all you need to be a Christian.
