For some reason there are rumours that Gonalons might go back to France in Jan and Badelji will take his place.
Badelj will be free next summer. I don't see any reason to spend money on him just to bring him in January.
He hasn't been that good either, and he hasn't played as much as he probably thought he would. I'd rather see Strootman take over the role...
Yeah, Gonalons hasn't been poor, but he's clearly the worst of a pretty impressive group of midfielders. Maybe he expected to play more and is looking to hit the eject button.
I could understand if he was English, German, or American... But French? Whats the difference...breakfast sucks in both Italy and France.

I never went over it. How different things may have been with an opening game defeat. I have never been his biggest fan, he's annoyed me many times and his passing on a bad day can be a total liability but if I just read your opinion of him and knew nothing about him, id think we were discussing the new Simone Loria.
There have been more moments this season proving me right than not. Since this, he had that dumb PK vs SPAL. He's not Vermalaen trash but he's nowhere near elite or potentially elite.
Come on, he's not world class and yes he makes some stupid decisions but he's pretty damn good. There have been plenty of occasions where he has saved our bacon. It's not like I'm blindly supporting Manolas because I was pretty harsh critic of his last season but he's played much better
Agree with Java65, Manolas is pretty good defender. I do think that our overall defense being a bit more solid now tends to reduce the plays where Manolas has made most of his attention grabbing plays in the past: coming out of nowhere to break up play when we're beat on counters.
You're right I am harsh on him, he is improving game by game but I still would rather sell him for 35, 40 if we could get it. Prefer Fazio as our leading defender and trust Monchi with the all that money.
