He's only 32, but he's had trouble staying healthy the last couple years. Bringing him to MLS, make him play in a physical league on some terrible artificial surfaces...
At the end of his stay at Bayern Munich and then his few years at Man United, Schweinsteiger was never tasked with being THE GUY. He was surrounded (usually) by very good teammates who knew their system, and he knew his part in it. In Chicago, he's gonna be expected to be THE GUY. I have mixed feelings about this. In a way, I'm jealous and wish DC United management would try to swing for the fences with a guy like this. On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised to see him struggle worse than Gerrard.
BREAKING: Footy McFooty Face is leading the online Facebook vote for San Diego's MLS club name. pic.twitter.com/6rTXRwxYeC— NBC Sports Soccer (@NBCSportsSoccer) March 24, 2017 This is what happens when you give people bad choices like FC I also like the Bad Hombres
That was a good performance. Pulisic is just amazing. Rarely do you see this mix of ability/talent, work rate and toughness. Imagine if Donovan in his prime and Pulisic playing together for the US? Arena might be able to get away with this XI vs Panama away from home, but not away to Mexico or away to a top 10 national team. So I wonder what will change? Will he bring in an extra central midfielder in place of Magnetic or Lleget/Bedoya? Will he go 3 at the back? With a healthy Fabian Johnson and Villafana available as wing backs this team picks itself imo. Only question is who partners Bradley in midfield. Also with Bobby Wood, who I used to think needs to start, another question mark.
I don't particularly like the guy, but for Gigi Buffon yesterday it was 1,000 caps between club and country. Not bad!
I was happy to see Najar back playing internationally, I had lost track of his rehab after he stopped tweeting rehab pics. Not sure exactly how long he's been back playing. He had some good moves until the entire team disappeared (not that I minded )
Didn't see this posted anywhere else. Charlie Horton suing Espindola, Olsen, United and league. http://www.blackandredunited.com/ru...an-espindola-ben-olsen-dc-united-court-attack
You ever meet a cute little baby and then the next time you see him, he's got braces and pimples and you just feel ANCIENT. Anyway, I can't believe how fat and old Bastian Schweinsteiger has gotten.
To be clear, he hasn't been bad. Maybe they should try him in goal since their new keeper is just terrible.
Bet he'll add another 100 although he sat out Italy's last match to let Donnarumma (18 yr 31 days) start.
In DCU alumni news, Amos Magee pries Sam Cronin and Marc Burch out of Colorado to shore up the Loons defense.
Yeah, I remember a lot of guys we hounded out of DC who went on to productive careers: Chris Albright; Marc Burch; Chris Pontius; (probably not fair, considering his injury history); et. al.. Have fun adding names.
