What penalty should Jonathan Brown receive from the AFL Tribunal next week? Given that he received 3 suspensions during the 2004 season, plus carried over a 2-match ban for a striking charge in the 2003 Grand Final, and given the penalty that Alastair Lynch received (10-match ban, $15K fine)...what's appropriate for Jonathan Brown? Would a season-long ban be out of the question? Discuss.
I don't think Jonathan Brown will be rubbed out for the whole season, but I think Brisbane would be happy if he was given anything less then 4 weeks. I think he'll get 6 weeks.
So the 10 weeks levied to Lynch was justified: a) because he's retiring and he won't have to serve it, and, b) to serve as a deterrant from biffing up the Grand Final ever again? And how does Brown's incident differ from Lynch's?
A local sports talk back show discussed this at length today - I agree with the consensus here that he will get 5/6 weeks plus a big fine As posted earlier on this thread he has had a few visits to the tribunal this year. He appears to have developed an aggro attitude. Definitely not recomended with all of the TV cameras around now.
Probably so, although a great question regardless. If Alistair Lynch wound up getting "ten weeks" as a symbolic gesture for his part in the Grand Final brou-ha-ha-- after all, he did retire right afterwards-- then Brown should get a minimum of a six-week ban. Perhaps eight, that would seem just, given his record and his actions on the day.
Jonathon Brown got 5 weeks suspension and fined $3000 dollaaars - Thought the fine may have been bigger though. (I`ll bet he does not pay it in the long term) He should settle back down in 2005. He intimidates everyone he plays on with his size alone anyhow.
