Does anyone have a list of all the MLS Training Grounds? I know Sporting KC trains in Swope Park and the Sounders train at the Starfire Sports Complex. I'd be curious to know where all the MLS teams currently train.
The Chicago Fire has its training ground (one grass field, one FieldTurf) on the premises at Toyota Park.
RSL trains at (I believe its called) the Xango Complex in Lehi, Utah; which is grass. If they need to move indoors or are going to play on turf the following week, they train at the Univeristy of Utah's indoor facilities in Salt Lake City they train at the RioT usually the day before a game.
I believe RBNY trains at Montclair State University during the season, but they are in the process of finding/developing a new one for the team in Kearny, NJ a few minutes from RBA.
http://www.starfiresports.com/campus/ click explore. starfire is a partner and sounders also train here: http://www.seahawks.com/media-loung...1-Photos/d7b6f62e-4f6a-40b0-a594-0e39f33c4f6f stadium at starfire holds 4000 but can also get upgraded for USOC to 5500. They will be adding 3000 to this in next 3 years.
The Dynamo either train at Carl Lewis Track & Field (at UH), or, when there are too many potholes in the grass, they train a Rice. However, they are almost finished building a training facility/Dynamo Academy Facility/Public Park just down the freeway from UH. Should be open this year sometime I believe.
Vancouver's current training ground is at Whitecaps FC Training Centre on the campus of Simon Fraser University. They will also be using Empire stadium next month. They will be building a new training ground for $31.5 million but are still looking at a few sites. The plan last year to build it in suburban Delta fell through. Wherever they build it, possibly neighbouring city of Burnaby, it will be used for WFC, Canada teams, visiting clubs, and have a clubhouse, player's lounge, and medical facilites.
Earthquakes train at the Nutrilife Training facility, "adjacent to the site of the proposed new Earthquakes stadium on Coleman Avenue." Nutrilite Training Facility Grand Opening -April 30, 2010
If you google earth Gillette Stadium, there is a soccer field tucked in behind... adjacent to what looks to be the Patriots training facility. Assume this is the Revs training grounds.
here is TFC's Proposal for a TFC ground http://www.theaircanadacentre.com/assets/default/Practice%20Facility.pdf
And, a couple days after mentioning this, here is an article describing our new Training facility: Originally they were teaming up with Memorial Hermann Hospital to have a Sports Medical/Research Facility there, but it hasn't been mentioned in a while. Maybe the funding fell through because of the crappy economy? For the pron lovers out there, the Dynamo were nice enough to post a video showing the foundations being laid.
The Timbers train at PGE. Have in the past done training at Lincoln HS [right across the street from PGE], Nike Training grounds [no longer likely], and U of Portland. No indoor facility that I know of. Word is they will probably do some pre-season training at Adidas HQ. No confirmation just a word from Spencer in an interview.
New development: Timbers will now have their own training grounds, for at least 10 years. http://www.portlandtimbers.com/news/2011/01/timbers-tualatin-hills-parks-recreation-district-partner-new-adidas-timbers-training-ce
Good to see adidas continuing to get involved with their hometown club. Looks like it will be a class facility, albeit a bit on the small side. Should be the home of the Academy as well.
From here: Basic stretches and light workout today. The San Jose Earthquakes started the 2011 season with the first day of training camp at the Nutrilite Training Facility in Santa Clara, CA on January 27th, 2011. Correction for the caption: the Nutralite Training Facility is actually in San José (right next to where they plan to build The Epicenter) rather than in nearby Santa Clara (where Buck Shaw Stadium is located). -G
It's exciting seeing all of these teams building their own training facilities, really drives home the feeling MLS is laying down roots.
The photo caption also omits mention that it was 70 degrees and sunny here in Cali yesterday when Quakes training camp opened.
