Two things Sid - I don't think it will work in Jersey, it's weird. I can't explain the mental block. We've used the psychoanalytical term "Psychological Barrier" to describe the phenomenon that blocks Philadelphians going to Jersey for anything other than going down the shore. All - Things have been quiet on the rumor wire. Ever since the supposed deadline at the end of February sources have been silent. I can't confirm or deny what we thought we once knew about which investor for which site. All I know, and I do know this, is that people very committed to bringing a proper soccer team to Philadelphia are working very hard to make that dream a reality.
Well, who are "Philadelphians" exactly? Because I would contend that majority of the people filling up the Linc during Eagles season are coming from Jersey, not those that literally live in the city. I think that "live in jersey, work in Philly" crowd is probably the largest portion of all the crowds at sporting events in Philly. Like I said though, I'm fine with it in the city. Just not west of the city.
With all due respect, Chester isn't really closer to "Philly proper", just on the same side of an odd psychological barrier.
I am Lord Humungous, ruler of the South Jersey wastelands. Fear will be our weapon! Surrender your Scarf Machines, and you may live.
Garber said Philly-side of the river and then again "Philly" when asked again in the Press Conference, but who knows. They also said that the Rapids new stadium was in Denver. It isn't, its in Commerce City. Every bit of email and signers of our online Ticket Request Drive says that the vast majority of fans are in PA, and mostly from the Philly burbs. NJ is a distant 3rd, behind fans from Philly-proper.
NJ is a Philly burb... Don't get me wrong though. I'd love nothing more than to see a SSS built right down there next to the Linc, CBP, & Wachovia center.
Well I think Delco is better then any of the other suburbs...... Can I please antagonize a philly suburb war
Yeah, when I heard that I think the reporter misphrased his question, so when Garber answered he also misspoke. I believe the reporter meant to say "South Jersey or Pennsylvania" and not "South Jersey or Philly", which doesn't leave the possibility of anything in PA outside of Philly...
Montgomery County will lay the smack down on you Main Line weenies, you Bucks County eliteists, and you Chester County SCUMBAGS!!! MWAHAHA!
Haven't I heard about the Chester waterfront being a possible site for an SSS, what with the "revitalization" going on there? I mean, they've got a Harrah's now!
