One announcement is expansion of the SuperLiga to eight teams...watered down playoffs, why should be expect anything different in MLS rewarding mediocrity...

Sure would be nice to get some expansion news...even if it's not THE ANNOUNCEMENT. Maybe, yes the Earthquakes are in for 08, and the league has given Philadelphia an iron clad agreement that if everything is in place, it will be team #15 and they have until 09 to start.

when they announced that Salt Lake City was getting their expansion team, they held the press conference there. I don't recall if they did the same thing in toronto, but if they did wouldn't it stand to reason that they would hold this conference in Philly if they were announcing an expansion team here? unless garber wants to keep people guessing, but I doubt if he's that cunning. his use of a deliberately vague term like "competition initiative" gives one reason to think that expansion is possible, but it could also mean something like rule changes, acquiring USL as an official minor/developmental league, or any number of other things.

Is anyone bored/obsessive enough to look up the MLS official pre-announcement announcements for the Fire/Fusion, Chivas, RSL, and Toronto expansions?

Well the fact is that the announcement did NOT take place in Toronto...therefore, the PC not being in Philly isn't automatically a bad thing. The bad thing is that the subject of the PC says "competition initiatives" and not "expansion"
