The 3rd team from each league qualifies to the Libertadores by gaining the most points in the season. Call it 2 mini seasons or whatever. Apertura and Clausura formats are ridiculous anyway.
Look, I'm not saying "MLS, come on in", but this coming from a mexican and putting up a list of demands is pretty comical :D

You think when Mexican clubs came in to CONMEBOL tournaments they were highly regarded or something? They were the sucky teams up north from Concacrap.

I sort of agree with this, but when playing teams probably that are not that big in that champions league i see MLS teams using a mix of reserves and starters. The CL begins for them i believe during and around the playoff times in the MLS.
Yes this is true, if even 1 MLS team comes i believe they should be in that beginning qualifying round like the atlas vs. bolivias 3rd aka La Paz FC game. They should earn their spot, because to anyone in South America any US team is considered Lunch Meat.

you are confusing semesters with a season. A season is a full year and in most South American leagues it has two champions.

I could also go ahead and say that the MLS has two champions as well. The MLS Supporters' Shield won by the regular season team with most points and the MLS Cup won by the winner of the playoffs

Why not, Libertadores wouldn't be the same without Mexican teams.

    Yes, knowledgeable futbol fans do.

    Explain "wouldn't be the same".
Back then? Back then, you were the little teams from up north looking for better competition outside the horrible CONCACRAP.

Wouldn't be at the same level. The level of competitiveness.

Back then it was CONMEBOL trying to raise the level of the competition by inviting Mexican teams and getting rid of a couple of Peruvian/Venezuelan teams.

It wouldn't be the same now. Yes.

Made a difference when they came in? Obviously NOT. That's why it's completely hilarious that a mexican puts up a list of demands for MLS teams to play in the tournaments when they were in the same position years ago.
Back then, you were the little teams from up north looking for better competition in exchange of giving Leoz and Co. some money.

Back then (and now) it was CONMEBOL trying to stuff some money in their fat pockets.

Yes, it was mostly fueled by mexican money, its no lie that mexicans are where the moneys at with tv rights, ads, etc.

But as a result they have grown, their league has grown, and their teams coming to the CL are now very very competitive, alot better than their first year.

And because of their constant invitation to the CL, big lpayers from south america see it as a viable option to play in mexico becasue the money is good, and is still competitive as any South American league. As a result many foreign players go there, and in the end has improved the FMF alot.

You made my case already. Thanks

But which players out of Mexico did a good job in Europe?

Even the best player in Mexico for the last few years can´t get decent playing time in France

I can name a few more too

Most players that play in Mexico don't even go to Europe. In Mexico the pay is good, the level of competitiveness is good, its close to home, theres no language barrier, and the big Mexican clubs sometimes put very high prices on players.
