Woohoo! Great they are moving ahead with this now, and they sort of have to if they want to be able to play in the 2020 season. Will be exciting to watch and to "go vertical" in the spring!

Meh, tapping into water, sewer, power, and moving some dirt around......can't compete with the crowds in Cincy, so make a PR splash with tractors and duct tape. Leaking ship......./sarcasm off

We need our own mod. One of us should step up to do that.

Not me! I already modded you bums for years. I had enough.

    For anyone who's interested.....

Sacramento "could" have their stadium built in time for the 2019 season.

For a timeline comparison, LAFC didn't start the Sports Arena demolition until Sept 2016, and started moving dirt Nov 2016. Their stadium is on schedule to be ready for start of season, March 2018.

I'm not insinuating anything. I stopped asking about how Miami affects expansion. As they get closer to the finish line, it's kinda wait and see. If the land sell lawsuit gains traction, things could change....

From what I have heard the site needs to "cure" for 6 months before it can go vertical. That's cutting it close but could be possible, if weather is favorable and nothing goes wrong.

Let's kick off the SJ rivalry right.

Build an outdoor bar longer than LOBINA.

    edit: ;)

2 months later and the site has made no progress at all. If you drive by the site there are still piles of stuff out there they haven't even begun to haul away, no equipment out there leveling ground... methinks their little groundbreaking ceremony was more for show than anything else.. or at least, they're not worried about a time frame.

I'm going to bet there won't be any movement out there until "official" word in December.

Sorry if I got your hopes up by bumping this thread, but I was just looking around on Google Earth this morning and noticed some updated imagery at the railyards and looks like they have done some more work at the potential stadium site. They punched a big hole through the northern boundary, through the levee/berm with an old railroad line, and the site is a little more cleared out. Still a ton of waste material out there but I just noticed this change. Imagery is from February 2018 most recently.

New stadium renderings with some design changes...

    https://www.sacrepublicfc.com/news_article/show/1009312

Supposedly, these changes "stem from the work led by" Burkle and Alvarez. Press release references being able to start construction immediately upon MLS announcement with a 2021 completion date.

I happened to drive by yesterday, and no action yet. I suspect there won't be much until after the rain stops in the spring.

There is some equipment across 7th street, where they'll be building the first apartments in the Railyards proper (on land not owned by Republic).

I think that much of the erector set on the TBB site will be removed, but the stadium itself will be preserved and operated by CalExpo for outdoor concerts and rugby and such.
