    Blue Water Stadium in Denmark seats has a capacity of 18,000 but only has around 11,000. I think an MLS stadium with a similar design (more actual seats probably) would be really cool.

    I also really like Loftus Road, Craven Cottage, and Genk's new stadium.

    Your wish already granted. Interior reminds me of new Quakes Stadium.

    Definitely taking the "downtown stadium" concept to a whole new level.

    I have a few questions about MLS stadium requirments

    1. What do the dimensions have to be in yards for a 20,000 seat stadium?

    2. What shape are stadiums commonly in?

    3.How big do their parking lots have to be?

    I would like to know this so that I can look for locations in different expansion candidate cities to build an MLS sized stadium, Thanks :cool:

    105 x 75 is what I think the pitch size is and usually 5-8k parking stalls. At least that's what I hear here in Miami that they want for Becks team. That's been a sticking point here and push back is mainly from cruise line company cut they want the same land Becks does otherwise it'll be the MLS stadium with a venue of a skyline

    1. Fifa regulations:
    LAW 1 – THE FIELD OF PLAY

    Dimensions

    The length of the touch line must be greater than the length of the goal line.

    Length (touch line):
    * minimum 90 m (100 yds)
    * maximum 120 m (130 yds)

    Width (goal line):
    * minimum 45 m (50 yds)
    * maximum 90 m (100 yds)

    All lines must be of the same width, which must be not more than 12 cm (5 ins).

    That should give you some leeway with the stadium size and where you can fit it.

    2. Stadiums are usually rectangle and/or oval shaped. A stadium's facade can be any shape and will vary in design. Have a look at Portland's Providence Park:

    [IMG]

    Then have a look at Houston's BBVA Compass Stadium:

    [IMG]

    As you can see, shapes will ultimately vary from stadium to stadium both inside and out.

    3. There is also no direct answer for parking lot size. That also varies on different variables like stadium capacity and where the stadium is located. That will determine whether or not a lot will even need to be built.

    As you can see in the photo of BBVA, there is one lot to the right of the facility. This lot is shared with Minute Maid Park (seen above the parking lot) and was there before the Dynamo's home was built. However, many that attend games park in different areas around the stadium and downtown that aren't managed by the stadium.

    Now look at Dick's Sporting Goods Park:

    [IMG]

    Large parking lots surround the stadium and were constructed with it, as it isn't in the heart of a city that has parking readily available.

    If I owned a stadium I would put a 100 to 300 hotel around it. This way I can make money when my beloved club isn't playing 17 to 24 homes games per year. I second thought I have to think this through. ha.

    Chelsea's Stamford Bridge Stadium has a hotel built in it.

    Since, I really don't have a clue about buildings I am going to ask a building expert like yourself.

    I am under the impression the Vikings new stadium will have some polymer film used on it? Correct? Minnesota has plenty of wind and snow during the colder months if this polymer film(ETFE) is used with limited strength. Why would they install it? What do you think will happen?

    What is 100 to 200 yards from Stamford Bridge? Is it a tennis court?

    The Poplar Point plan for DC United included a hotel being one side of the stadium. The Buzzard Point plan includes a hotel as part of the development.

    The Genoa stadium on page 1 or 2 looks a lovely stadium, that's how all stadiums should be built.

    Can't stand half of these plastic bowl looking stadiums, they hold zero atmosphere as well.

    Villa Park
    Goodison Park
    White Hart Lane
    Anfield

    They're all my types of stadiums I like to visit. Craven Cottage is also a lovely little stadium, makes a great day trip.

    I cut and pasted several features from famous stadia. The roof from old traford, I love that it allows light in. The first couple of rows from old trafford on the dugout sides, they are flat, and bunched seating getting as many people close to the pitch. The latr part of the lower bowl at La Mestalla, and the second ultra steep all seater bowl from la Mestalla. Th south stands at signal iduna park, i'd add safe standing rails for the MLSthe opposite side would have a visitd supportr section much like the Loftus road QPR double decker supporter section

    The Blue Water and Eden Arena are both beautiful and I'd love to see something like either or both in MLS. Eden would look great in the Boston Metro Area for the Revs.

    Went to a match at Tynecastle in Dec., 2010. As a Chicagoan, it reminded me of Wrigley Field. . .both the good and the bad. It's so sad what's happened with ownership there. Hopefully, they're on the path to recovery now.
