The playoff schedule was announced today: https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2018...yoffs-schedule-revealed-final-be-played-dec-8 Knock-out rounds will be played on Oct 31 or Nov 1. If Columbus ends up seeded third or fourth, we'll likely host that game on Halloween (again) because it is the least desirable date of the two. The Conference Semi-Final home leg is Nov 4, the following Sunday. If we win the knockout, we'd host that match. We also have Minnesota in town on Oct. 28 for the last (ever?) regular season match. So pencil it in folks: Sunday, Oct 28 – Wednesday Oct 31 – Sunday Nov 4 as a busy week in Crewville. (Maybe the league would have pity on us for playing on Sunday of the last week and schedule a Thursday, Nov 1 game instead?)
Can someone post the standings, please? I can find it myself but I would rather have a public moment of laughing at Chicago and TFC.

This is a lineup made for artificial turf other than Sauro. I'm too lazy to see if we have any artificial turf games left.
NYC had two games this week, both at home. They lost to the Revolution and drew with DC. We actually have enough points in hand available to catch them. That seemed pretty unlikely a couple weeks ago.
I think if we beat Dallas, we WILL get 3rd place. We'd be three points back with a game in hand, and our remaining schedule is @Portland, home games against Colorado and Philly, @Montreal and Orlando, and home against Minnesota. The game at Portland will be a tough task, but there's nothing after that that scares me. We have a real chance to pick up a lot of points down this stretch.
Philly go down to 10 in the 89' and the score in stoppage time on a calamitous mistake by Stefan Frei. A good finish though (better than Mullins' in the first half....)
Given how busy the week of October 28th is going to be (3 matches if we win the knockout match), it is imperative to secure at least 4th place. That allows us to play at home in all 3 matches that week (again, if we win the midweek match). If we drop to 5th place, we then have to travel midweek, which makes winning that knockout match significantly more difficult. The importance of 6 points in the next two matches can't be overstated. A win against Philadelphia at home on the 29th is paramount. (Side note: my friend is flying in from Philly to watch that match with me. His first time in Columbus. My first game at MAPFRE since the loss against Atlanta in June. Does anyone want to sell me 4 tickets? I'd rather not buy straight from the team!)
Philly won again. Citeh at 50. Crew on 47. Philly on 46. Big one next week. 3rd in reach. 5th a real possibility. 6th not quite locked yet.
If we finish 3rd or 4th, is there any chance our (home) knockout game could be Thu the 1st and not Wed the 31st??
Yes, the knockout matches are EITHER the 31st or 1st. But, typically the 31st gets the worst coverage/draw. Given how MLS feels about Columbus, I'd guess we'll get scheduled the 31st, just like last year.
That’s a stunning win by Jim Curtin’s Philadelphia Union. He essentially has a Bethlehem Steel side out there. I still think the Crew can win next Saturday, no matter the result Wednesday the Union will have some Open Cup hangover, but this team is playing way better than I ever expected a Jim Curtin team to play.
I just emailed my season ticket rep about playoff tickets. I do not for the life of me remember anything about how to put them on my account or if I have to do that. Do they magically appear?
When I talked to mine last week about renewal for next year, she said more information about playoff tickets would be coming out sometime in October.
And, as I recall, they are automatic unless you opt out. [The opt out for season tickets, which deadline just passed, does not change your playoff options one way or the other.]
I got a generic email about reserving playoff tickets. I followed the link and logged in to my account manager, but my usual seats weren't auto loaded. Has anything account specific/season ticket member focused gone out to anyone yet about playoffs? I want to do the pay as you go/save $ option, but I don't think what I got was for my specific seats.
