Everyone takes a break from around 10 December to "Pro Bowl Week". A few cold weather teams wait three weeks tops for a home game. That's just a tick under three months.
So you're gonna play in Montreal, Minnesota, Toronto, and New England in late November, early December then? Because if you're not then you're pushing it over 3 months into 4 month range. Sorry you're not going to convince me that a winter break with extended road trips for some teams is the way forward for the league.
We play in Montreal, Toronto, and New England in November and December now if required. I fail to see the difference.
Key there is 'if required' in your plan it doesn't become a matter of if, it becomes required. Showing up to a playoff game in that weather would be one thing, showing up for a regular season game between New England and Salt Lake is another thing.
We have one home game in March next season. I still don't see much of a difference. It doesn't matter if it is "if required". Presently, a very large potential exists for our biggest playoff games and MLS Cup to be played in the north in December. What's worse? Playing your biggest match in an NFL stadium in December? Or playing a few regular season matches a year in cold weather? This is a no brainer.
Seeing all this movement around the league really has me feeling like we're being lapped. Chicago signs Polish league top scorer Nemanja Nikolic as DP. DC United signs Costa Rican forward Jose Guillermo Ortiz. Orlando closing in on French defender Grégory Certic. Houston signs Honduran international Alberth Elis on a 1-year loan. Waiting to hear... anything, SKC.
And we get snow in October here, but the likelihood and amounts are higher in December based off the averages.
But seriously, I'm deleting any more posts on the topic in this thread. Take it to PMs if you have to.
Yeah, that's a huge signing by Chicago. Was he the guy keeping Nemeth mostly on the bench for the Euros?
Wikipedia says he only played in one game during EURO 2016, so... I don't think so? I'm terrible at remembering specifics of international competition.
He doesn't really address our needs, necessarily. He'd push Dom out of a starting spot. And while I wouldn't say no to a better CF than Dwyer, there are better places to spend money on the roster first.
Oh, I guess that makes sense. I assumed he was playing wing because we played Nemeth there. Something something transitive property doesn't apply to soccer something something.
Yep, Nemeth is a striker. He succeeded on the wing cause he's a boss, not cause that's where he wanted to play. He wanted Dom's spot, and in my estimation that's a chunk of why he left.
Well, it looks like Curt Onalfo is picking up right where he left off with every other club he's coached.
There is no joy in the twin cities after Atlanta scorched the loons for 6 goals. We know that expansion teams will have a tough time in their inaugural year, but Minnesota is so bad that if something doesn't happen quickly, Adrian Heath won't be the manager by July, much less October.
How much say did Heath get when it came to acquiring the players? Sounds like ownership didn't want to pay for any players. They might need to just blow it up and start over again.
Given the time table that the club was on, according to the commentators during the game, it's a miracle they have a functioning team at all. Which should be humiliating.
